need help welding!

need some advice on welding this, ive got a welder but not very confident in myself to weld it, needs to be strong as its the rear subframe mounts! advice? or price for someone to come sort it? thanks

I would start by taking the oversill off and seeing how bad the rest is.

You can get a half floor with the outer sill etc attached. One of them and a heel board repair panel would sort that easily enough. Couple of days work to do it properly.

Might be best to put your location in your profile if you want somebody to come to you.

I spy over-sills. You should cut more of the sill back to make sure there's not more rust waiting... you need to cut ALL the rust out, not just patch over the top.

Get practicing on scrap first until you build up confidence and learn how to test your practice welds for strength. Sills were the first weld job I did. It wasn't pretty, but it worked.

Use Waxoil after your done. You shouldn't have to be doing this if the last person had Waxoiled the current sills

I'm not far from Sheffield. Don't have much time at the moment, but if you are not in a rush then I could probably pop over at some point and go through the basics with you.

First things first though, brace the door opening up and get the rest of that oversill off. See what other horrors are lurking...

Have a you got a half decent welder? If you start practicing on some scrap bits of steel it shouldn't take much the pick up mig welding. When welding thin stuff you have to use a bit of a 'pulse' kind of style instead of just holding the trigger in and going for it.

Na mate it's not a cab, it's about 2cm away from the wall haha, and I'm not really in any rush, I have a Clarke mig welder, just wanna no what to do for best!

I learnt by going to a local fabricators and getting some of their scraps then taking them home and practicing. Trick is to make sure it sounds like a fry up cooking (I wrote down what settings I used on different thicknesses as well). Get a decent mask cos the ones that you get with the welders are fckin useless.

I would say it needs a heelboard repair panel then a repair to the sill as a minimum. But if that side is as the picture, what's the other side like?

the other sides sound mate as we took the door sil off and replaced that, under that is solid, but gonna have a second look when this side is done and its tipped the other way, would be good if you could come and have a look mate, it wont be till next month i will have the money to pay someone to do it, thanks
