I want to get some 998 flat top piston rings. MiniSport is half the price of the Minispares , but they're not in stock.

http://www.minisport.com/08-524300-00-goet...ndard-size.html

Anyone have any experience with back ordering from them? Just wondering if they give any delivery time estimates, or how easy it is to cancel if they take the piss.

EDIT:

Ok second question:

£50ish for a full set from MiniSpares is fine if I definitely need them; so you opinions as to whether new rings will make any difference, please...

When stripping it, the engine appears to be is low mileage, maybe less than 25k. I measured up 3 sets of pistons and rings... Skirt clearance appears to be just in spec, but ring gap is double the max limit around 25-30 thou. If I buy new rings, am I likely to get much closer to spec? Should I get standard size, or re-size some +20 thou rings, or just stick with the what I've got?

I back ordered my exhaust from them. They didn't give me any info on when it would arrive etc until a few weeks later when i emailed them myself. Took about 3 weeks.

No I didn't - damn that would have been disappointing. Thanks for spotting.

Going on their. Dismal. Past customer service, around 6 months wait and most probably. Get pistons for a spitfire then, oh dear!

Haha, yeah I'd heard lots of bad reviews, although the few things I'd ordered had been fine. If they were selling a full ring set at that price I would have taken a punt, then if they fucked up, just bought another set from Mini Spares. I didn't know you could buy them per piston, so should have read the details a bit harder !

Was going to run the hone with low pressure for a couple seconds, just enough to scuff it up.

Minisport are dogshit, I ordered some wheels from them and 2 weeks later I rang them and asked when they were being delivered, turns out they were on back order from supplier for 2 months and they weren't going to tell me! Also took me another week and about 5 phone calls to get a refund

The damage has been done. Also parts that I have had from them in the past have been very poor quality. Best avoided

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
