Sounds simple but I am struggling to hold the diff and get enough torque in these crown wheel bolts. Didn't want to damage my new cross pin diff by putting it in a vice but I cant think of another way to hold the bugger still. 60ftlb is that right?

Cant you hold the gear in the vice with some soft jaws? |

ok thanks chaps, just didn't want to damage anything. My old man has a vice with wooden jaws which should do the trick.

Or don't as a 'rebuilt' gearbox I once bought was! Lol If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |
