So I picked up a fairly decent shell with V5 for £170 , its gonna need some work and the front needs tidying up plus a new fibreglass front is required as the steel one is shot . Engine wise I am looking A-series turbo'd but also considering other options such as vtec turbo etc , time wise I am in no rush so I expect a year + . The aim is for a stripped down road / track car but not going down the ultra light route just yet . It's only gonna be used on the odd weekend .

was thinking about removing the roof for a fibreglass one as it has a fair few dents but not sure if this may be a lot of hassle ? Also need to weld up all those holes in the floor pan and replace the rear valance as its been smoothed (all be it very well )

Will keep this all updated as I move it along .....

Thanks for all the replies, here's a bit of an update .... So after going to my dads with the intention of cleaning up a few areas with a wire wheel I as usual got carried away and spent most of the day uncovering bodges .

It all started with the passangers side scuttle when I unearthed some filler with the grinder and wire wheel , so after I covered myself and everything in site with white dust I found these too areas ..

However this side was really bad, someone had just welded a repair panel straight over the old rust and filled the crap out of it ! I estimate it had been like this for a while as there was a surface rust on the underside of the repair panel , also needed is inner support panel both sides

I also then cut out the rear bins ready for a cage and discovered the inner sill was rusty so cut it out ready for some strong plate to hold the Cage .

Having seen others threads regarding tubbing the arches I now feel confident I can do this so that will be on the cards next ...

Tidy! well done, easy weightloss compared to the double thickness and filler scuttle that was on there *smiley*

Thanks , I'm pleased with the result considering it was my first attempt at any real bodywork .

Fu*k knows , looks like they have had a dodgey repair inside and the outers may well have been slapped on over the old ones ! . It will be addressed in time ... Well I hope lol
