Hello,

I was wondering if somebody could tell me how much power a rebuilt standard bottom end could handle?

Am planning a sueprcharged build, but on a budget so dont want to spend any money that i dont need to.

I would like to knowhow much power the standard pistons, conrod and crankshaft and also push rods can handle?

Cheers,

Chris.

Everything other than the pistons will take what you can throw at it from the point of view of an sc setup, but you want some good strong pistons, either 21253 type or a good quality cast piston. The 21253s can be dished out too if req'd.

yep as above,

its high RPM that kills the crank and rods, so as forced induction lumps tend to be sensible with there max rpm its not usually an issue.

you want a standardish cam too, 266, MG metro, std metro, sw5, somthing like that.

I'm sure some will also depend on what "standard" engine you are starting with for the build.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Hello,

Sorry i did forget to say the exact engine, it is a 1275 SPI 'cooper' engine. but will be run on a single hif44.

We were planning to use a kent 276 for the build, but if you think that is a step too far then a 266 will probably end up being fitted.

Cheers,

Chris

a 276 will be ok for a supercharged build, you can get away with a slightly hotter cam than with turbo's
