Browsing today and found this throw back to the 90s episode .

It's really quite scary how slow our goverment is to pick up new technology . 20yrs on and we still don't have fibre optic throughout the UK !!

Because the government dont install it, it's private companies, and if there's no profit for them, makes no sense to install it.

To be fair though, yes fibre is great. But I'm more amazed by normal broadband, and what they can fit down two silly little wires that are the standard household phone line.

Tomorrows World was always a good show though

The only company that has really gone to town on it Is Virgin, I've got 152mbps. The government say they want it everywhere but they don't pay and if you were a private company would you pay a fortune which you wont recoup as it will only serve a few people in some remote place?
