Dave what I would say is look at this stuff and only go as far as you feel safe to! I never rush in to any of it! And it's always best to get some advice where your not sure.

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

Cheers si, ive always chucked unnecessary stuff out of my minis since i was 16 in the attempt of lightening, had ago at pedal box the other year.. but ive now got to the point where its gonna happen properly now with the turbo now i have a bench mark time n weight to go off... the turbo mini is purely my toy and nothing else now :)

Dave, just lust look at what you have got on your car, sit and think how you can lighten it. Sometimes I cover it in tape and mark it up where I want to drill it, if it shit you can pull it off and start again.

I was told by someone, for a good job it should take longer to mark it up then to drill it.

Personally I think holes are not the way to go, I dont like the look of them. Most things can be remanufactured from lighter materials and other things can just be trimmed up a bit. I have lost all my pictures of lightweight parts unfortunately

I seriously doubt it!

Have always like the look of chris dillows and nics minimalist ways... not necessarily holes everywhere either just trimming n shaving / removing with some holes lol

I jist love the look of madmk1's mini makes it affordable and something most people can do. That combined with som carbon... jummy. .

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

Indeed it is lovely! All the neat ideas are inspiring, just dont think the classic look would work on mine, plus i have a mk1 tucked up in the garage so i have the classic mini... i wanna turn this one more into the weekend racer/drag/occasional trackday

In that case drill and file every part of the car (SAFELY).

Your goal is to beat 386kgs

I seriously doubt it!

Haha i dont think i could get anywhere near that paul! Even tho i would love to be even close but working out what i could do more realistically im looking at 550? Had a good ganders over chris dillows at pod and hes 470 so to be 130kg lighter is amazing, does the fact being a sprint on its own help? (I know yours is alot more than just that)

Being a Sprint doesnt make loads of difference but if you think that each bit of glass/polycarbonate is 2" smaller, the roof pillars are 2" smaller and theres 1.5" missing from the lower half of the body it certainly does help.
Its mostly all the little bits that have been made minimal or from different materials - titanium or aluminium, everything can be lighter one way or another and obviously the power:weight ratio increses

I seriously doubt it!

Anyone worked out or noticed at all by shedding weight over time noticing there times coming down? Basically im saying whilst people have saved weight and done more runs have they worked out a rule e.g a 100kg less = 1 second off?

My times have come down by loads but there is no correlation to how much faster to weight loss

I seriously doubt it!

I have searched but i cant find what im after... is there or does anyone know the different weights of different wheels... what im kind of wanting to know is roughly the weight of what ive got 7x13s compared to the weight of lets say 6x10 force racing wheels *wink*

7x13 ultralites with continentals 11kg
5.5x10 force wheels with yoko and nuts 8.05kg
