Well Hello all, Cant believe how long it has been since I posted on here *surprised*, Its nice to see you are all still the same bunch of Thunder Cunts you always where (ho yes John I did use your saying).

Anyway I have been still busy making a bolix of minis. I have been working on a nice little project over the last few months with a very good friend of mine Neil Kavanagh. this is not a turbo project but I know you you guys enjoy a good engine build so here she is.

The Car:

Neil bought the car a few years back it looked like this:

Then this happened

I got excited with the welder and he got excited with the sand paper then this happened

We then spent a lot of time and energy making this happen

Then we ended up with this

We built him a nice little 1380 which performed well.

We done a few track days and I planted a seed in his head I said............

This would make your car more Nicer and he said ugggggghhhhh and this happened:

A good bit of this went on:

and thanks to all steel bottom end way to much of this went on:

alot more of this happened

Then got this bit right:

Then It was time for final assembly:

All that left us with:
1480 all steel bottom end
Piper special grind 320 cam
Brian Slarke 38/32mm 6mm valve full race head
Mini Spares ST straight cut box
Salsbury LSD
MED Crown wheel and pinion 3.9
Twin 45 webers on Maniflow manifolds custom linkage
ignition Maped
Mini Spares ultra light flywheel
All fully preped

the motor has all told about 120 hours work not including grinding the head or machining the block.

We are hoping to fire it up for the first time tonight and rolling road should be with in the next few weeks.

stay tuned

will get you guys a Flat cap and cupa tea video when it fires

Island blue, black roof, grey interior - very familiar, looks great.
How did you get on with the Swifty chain?

I seriously doubt it!

I love it! Please promise me one thing though. Do not, I repeat, do NOT cut the bulkhead on that. You know it's better to slot a 1293 in there and go proper racing *wink*

Haa Dave now you mention it, it dose remind me of someones car. Unfortunately you car would put this machine to shame in the flesh :(. Swifty chain setup is magic, altho my head still hurts from working out how to dial in the cam less then simple !

Joe: we found a lot of fresh air while trying to make room for the swiftness steel main caps. its not so much the cap as the fact the bolts sit higher than the std ones. so lots of welding and machining went on.

giannoutsos: the crank is a Paul Ivey Forging worked by farndon for me. Pistons are Custom Omegas.

Vegard. There is not a hope in hell I or Neil will ever be cutting that bulkhead there could be nothing further from our mind.

My next project is to rebuild my 63 into a apx K car I'm sure that will tiddle your fancy.

lovely NA engine and tidy car. I have heard Paul Ivey is not releasing the rights for any more forgings.... it would be a shame if correct...... bring on the 63 love to see it

It fired up Thursday evening but we are having a ball ake between a dud Varley Red top, a wanked throttle pot which likes to read 0% load 80% load 5% load resulting in our 13.5:1 compression ratio motor seeing 10 deg advance 28deg advance 15deg advance all in the space of 500rpm = lots of low speed det and a worried engine builder. Ill get a video up when its all straightened out.
