Anyone have a cheap method/tool to bead hard fuel lines? I have a flare kit but want to put a bead 1/2" from the end of my hardlines, seen a few tools in America but $400+ :(

Quarry Bonk

As in put a flange on to stop the pipe coming off the end? I've seen olives soldered onto the outside, which is what I'm gonna be using.

These seem good but ideally be good if you could get one for 1/4" line too http://www.earls.co.uk/earls/accessories/t...adingtools.html

For efi, or carb ?

Carb generally run such low pressures, beads arent needed

Worst case, a basic small flare would do if you really needed something or as others say solder an olive onto the pipe.

Tools to bead small diameter lines would be fewer than those for larger pipes which are easier to DIY

It's for efi just before my fuel rail.

As I used copper pipe (and I'm obviously EFI) I soldered a standard end feed joiner on the end of every line and then cut 2/3 of it off with a good roller pipe cutter leaving just a few mm of the joiner on the fuel line.

Not quite as neat as what you want but totally effective.

EDIT - picture added (not a very good one but only one I have)

Cheers Rod, my pipes are steel however. I think previously the rubber fuel line was just on a straight pipe with no bead etc, prob not the best idea with injection fuel pressures...

Theres no easy answer. I made a small olive and soldered it on.

I put a small flare into the line with a break flare tool. I just started the flare process with the tool and stopped when there was just a bump

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

More than likely, with good quality hose and clip, even without a bead it would be quite safe.

If in doubt, you could double clip it.

But it would be best to have a bead of some sort.

i used two clips per join on my car, no bead, it never presented an issue but truth be told i was never entirely happy about it. but it was fine for years.

On an injection setup? Jimbo sorted me out in the end with one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360590883587 :)

I might treat myself to one of these kits in future though as it will do all brake pipe flares and fuel line beads http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mastercool-71475-U...e_Tools&vxp=mtr

Thanks for the replies :)
