Bit of a long shot as there's not many around, but I'm after one for my temp n/a 1275 to give it some more grunt, or a kent 276 failing that.

Cheers.

Id say step it up a notch and throw in a 296.

Had one in a 1293 with a head that kept the port sizes reasonable. Still made 118hp if my memory serves me correctly. Drove just fine with mappable ignition.

I had a 286 in a 998 and that was a kitten too.

Just seen what your thread title says.

Serves me right for jumping in off the front page

Well I'm open to suggestions but it'll be a 1275 a+ std bore, 3.1 diff, megajolt, pre verto ultralight flywheel, and home ported/vizardised head and hif44, possibly centre main strap. Want something that will pull to around 7kish for a bit of fun, but I don't want something too compromised at low rpm. Thinking about 10.1 comp ratio too on 97ron unleaded.

Smart Guy!

mainland europe near ze germans

when in doubt undercam.

SW 5
Cooper 998
MD 274.

Probably SW8

Maybe RE13

Do you really want to give up a whole bunch of power under 5500 to barely get it back up top. If your head is not pretty good i would wager guess that you won't get it back. it is very easy to lose 10+ cfm ( from 120 if you are lucky) just by having a valve seat a tad off.

That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system

I'm only after around 90hp, nothing too up top but with a few more than standard revs to play with, After flicking through the yellow bible those two stood out to me.

A 296 in anything but a full race build is also a waste of time.

I used a 285 cam daily for 5k miles in a 1275. Compression was low too due to MT pistons. still pulled 88hp and never a drivability problem.

I had the vp3c cam, great cam imo, seems to sit between 276 and 286 and was pulling around 104bhp at the fly. I would highly recommend it

276 kent with 1.5 rockers was quite astonishingly fast, with a good head, in my old 1275gt .

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

If you've built a non full race engine that runs decent with a 296, you've done something wrong.
Read: You've not used the potential in the camshaft= you could have got the same results with a milder cam and a decent build.

Disagree as much as you like.
