Done some digging on breaking in engine and cam / followers and there seems to be various methods, so thought i best ask or could you comment.

1. Fill with cheap mineral oil / prime oil system.

2. Start engine, keep revs at 2000 rpm (what AFR should i be looking for 12 -13:1) or may be weaker to prevent bore wash and rings not bedding in.

3. Run for 20 min keeping an eye on oil pressure / water temp and AFR.

4. Change oil and filter (would you now put in Millers CTV or continue to run cheap stuff).

5. Get car out on road and keep accelerating and slowing down in 3rd.

6. Get to rolling road and set up as 16 psi..........................

7. Drive it

Whats your thoughts,

Thats what i was thinking but would you still run cheap mineral oil for the hard run as you call it.

Wont be pushing the mini too hard as wont have been set up so will be a 3rd gear load and unload for a while then a 50 mile trip on the motorway to RR.

Good oil only once the cam is bedded in.

16psi? Puff.

Don't worry about what gear you're in. Just make sure you are accelerating and decelerating not cruising.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

fairly hard acceleration dont go too high on the revs to begin with, over run apparently helps clean the bores too
imo i usually bed the cam in and the rings on the same oil then straight on to the good stuff
i bedded mine in at santapod *happy* - and set my personal best too

Start it up, hold it at 2k for 20mins, while checking oil pressure, any leaks etc. if all is good take it out and put moderate load on the engine. There's no point changing the filter and oil before putting load on the engine, as you'll only have to do it again after.

I always inspect the filter after the initial run up on load to check for anything unusual, any large chunks of metal in there then at least you have an early warning that something might be wrong before putting lots of miles on it!

Fresh oil, fresh filter and get some miles on it.

Gaycharger will be ran at it's full potential - 12psi. Your turbo is barely spinning at 16psi.

Very helpful info in here, will be running mine in this weekend.

Would a AFR of 12-13 be ok as Lee said above?

Perfect AFR for power is12.5:1 under full boost but anywhere. 11.5 to 12.5 is safe. under cruise part throttle you may use it a little higher say 13s

Make sure you run very low boost and at least a bdd carb needle until it is ran in and has been on the rollers.

Where in sheff/rotherham would you say to get it set up on the rollers?

What psi would you be looking at on the standard actuator on the GT1752 set at 1/2 hole pre-load?

Cheers Brett, that should be fine for breaking / running in.

Then its a simple job of raising the boost using the Gizmo boost contrller i got off John when its at the rollers.

you might as well just get an actuator that gives you 100% boost and use the gizmo to give you another 100% on top *wink*

Now thtats an idea *Clapping*

What actuator would give 16 PSI, which would fit a GT1752, cant be any bigger than the standard actuator size though.

gt20, straight fit 15psi 1mm pre load you may need an longer arm depending on your actuator mount
