I've read a few threads on here about the benefits of long inlet manifolds and thought the one from my 1.3 Maestro engine might be good. Anyone ran one of these before or have any experience with long inlets of forced induction A-series lumps?

I think the fact that the intake charge has to take a tight turn back on its self would negate any benefits..

I'd give it a go. Turning back on itself can't be much/any worse than what happens in the Metro turbo inlet.

The runners look like they have potential to be the basis of a plenum similar to the ones Paul S makes for his efi setup. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

I have one, setup with injectors at the head face but haven't got round to running it yet. I'll dig out a few photos. Edited by Daniel on 3rd Mar, 2014. |

Thanks guys, to be honest I hadn't thought of getting it stuck on a flow bench.

Don't waste money on a flow bench. The results will be meaningless. It's the extra length of the runner that will give you the extra mid-range torque.

What sort of bonnet would you use to hide it? It's gonna need a fair old bump in it. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

I think you could get away without a bulge in the bonnet if the stubby Pico injectors were used, you could also turn the throttle body upside down and have the injectors in the bottom, space pending On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

The long runners will time the pulses to peak at the back of the inlet valve at overlap, promoting scavenging and improving VE.

I'll have a look at the Pico injectors as they might give enough clearance. If the injector block is flipped it all clears but is far too close to the manifold. Again this might be solved by a set of Pico injectors. |

with the Pico injectors, the fuel rail will only be as close to the exhaust as the HIF44 was, but if you use a fuel return set up you'll get fresh cool fuel through the rail rather than it sitting there as it would in the HIF44. Still, i'd be tempted to make a heat shield for it :) On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
