I never did post any kind of build to my old Fella KAZ here so i might aswell start now,

He's a 1968 mkII mini, irish, not an import,
When i bought him from a friend (Miniireland) he was in not too bad condition, the engine, i was told was seized so that got my mind thinking of bigger things immediately, namely a 1380cc motor!
i found out afterwards when i pulled the head off that it was just a blown head gasket! if only i'd done that first!
the bodywork was in good condition apart from a flakey paint job that had been done previously,
so once i got the car i started getting in the long list of parts and believe me, it was very long indeed!
basically i had every part in the engine replaced with new uprated parts, a straight cut gearbox, omega pistons, new uprated crankshaft, webber 45 dcoe, all the expensive bits,
then he got a set of KAD 4pots, new subframe, suspension, braided brake lines, etc,

then eventually after a year and a half of just sitting outside my house i started work on him,
no fancy garages or anything like that, just out on the side of the road with help from mates for the heavy parts!
this was his first incarnation,

he came with a dashboard from a Dolomite sprint so i decided to leave that in as it looked quite good,

then disaster!
the night before i was due to go to carrick on suir the engine died on me,
pulled it apart that night to find that the block had cracked between 2 & 3 cylinder, one scrap block!
you cant see it that well but their is a small grey line at the thinnest part of the cylinder wall that only comes down about 8mm, quite hard to see but i know exactly where it is!

so out came the engine again!
got a new block from england and started again,

it was really cold out!
Thanks to my Dad for the Bovril *happy*

by this stage he's got huge spotlights on the front as you can see,
but thats not the end,
he then had a stage 5 cylinder head fitted,
which............ turned out to be scrap!

so after a lot of head scratching and a year or so of my mini sitting in the basement in work not moving i took him to Paul Hickey engineering,
Paul stripped him apart to find one or two other interesting things which have all been replaced thank god!

finally, he is having a Megajolt ignition system fitted just to make me feel better and to be more precisely tunable,

so at the moment KAZ is 1380cc with a straight cut gearbox, new 4pin diff, new 286 full scatter cam, stage 2/3 cylinder head with 31 x 37 valves, running a webber 45, and a Megajolt ignition system, and thats just the short list

He's back!....................and he wants tarmac!

*edit*
He now runs a Swiftune ATB diff instead of the 4 pin, also he has a different cylinder head which is closer to a stage 5
He now puts out 110bhp, which is exactly what I was aiming for, not bad for a non turbo! *happy*

as anyone on the MTM 2011 saw his new paint is nice but their are a few bits that I'm in no way happy with,
He looks fine from a distance though,

One or two of my mini on my wedding day,

my mate Gareth drove my mini for the day and I think he frightened one or ten people along the way  , he even held up traffic at roundabouts so that the whole convoy could get through together,

Kenny (Another mate, runs Autoshine) had KAZ looking gleaming for the day too!

A HUGE thank you to the guys that brought their minis along for our big day

I like the dash - how much modifying did you have to do to fit it?

Thanks *happy*
their are two different sets of wheels in the pics,
10x6 minilites & 10x6 KN Mercurys,
The KN's are in the shed waiting for me to get the finger out and give them a good clean and polish

@Yo-Han, thanks dude!

Thanks, but I can't claim any credit for this as it was fitted already when I bought it,
As far as I know it's pretty close in size for the mini with only a small bit having to be shaved off the end for it to fit properly, I owned a Dolomite sprint before and to me it doesn't look like much of the dash had to be removed at all

Ahhh don't diss the spotlights man, I like them, and they were very handy too! they all had 130watt bulbs so it was like my own little bit of daylight on the backroads at night *wink*

Kerbside motors were used quite a bit there, the first and second engines went in there among other big jobs,
I did have to put some wire mesh into the shore as one or two bolts tried to escape down there when I needed them most!

Thanks!,
The ariels are for the CB, I know, still rockin the CB!, you'd be surprised how many people still use them *happy*
I have two different ariels that I use, each has a different signal strength, and yes, they make it look like it's radio controlled or a dodgem but that just makes the people telling me that smile even wider
