Alright folks, i recently thought stuff it to welding and cutting and sold on my Van shell, with the money raised i managed to purchase a nice finished(ish) shell of a good member of turbominis, i hope i do his car justice and finish it the way he would of wanted, with a nicely boosted engine in it!
And this is her finally at home.

I've stripped my subframe and hubs and front suspension parts all down last night ready for blasting and painting then hopefully get some more progress on it!

Will be drilling and modding the subframe this week, get it all blasted, rebuild with all new bushes and bearings, rose jointed tie rods, 1.5 neg arms and finished off with my new(free*happy*) kad 4 pot brakes.

My aim is to get 150bhp, as thats what my dad said i would never get, so its kind of like an expensive bet.

Will update with more Sooonies!

cheers Dev.

150bhp is well within reach.

I was told by a RR operator that I would never get more than 100bhp !

Thanks guys for all the responses,
progress has been slow this week, I've stripped all the suspension parts and cleaned them all off,
waiting for some paint etc to come so i can get that painted!

The disease has begun though.

to this,

Its quite addictive, wish i'd had more uniform to the holes, but i'm not too fussed if you cant see the parts!

My goodies for the build:

So hopefully not much to do apart from bolting on! just waiting for my front subby to be done at sandblasting

Are you going to run a plenum on the back of the SC throttle body or are you going to run the boost from the turbo straight into it?

Yes it does help mate! But now you have started you will not stop!!
I have a nice big list of jobs for when I get back to drop more weight out of parts on mine *smiley*

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

Looks like a fantastic project. I'd love to start with a clean sheet like that (and the funds to do it properly).

Simon is becoming the king of swiss cheesing anything in sight *tongue* Lovely looking start to a build, all the hard work has been done and it's pretty much the job of throwing the stuff all on!

Yeh thats why im enjoying it so far! Welding was not my cup of tea..

Simon your car sets the standard bud, I'll struggle to get this very light due to the amount roll cage but if I could get it down as much as possible I know I'llrbe happy with it

Genuine carbon fibre is the key mate *wink*
I'm starting to become a little less bothered about weight saving, I'm gonna do what I can but not go to extreme lengths some go to, and just enjoy my car for what it is. I'd love for my shell to just turn into a painted solid shell overnight haha

You can always drill holes in the fuell tank. .. saves you some weight. ..

edit. Nice mini btw. looks like a great project.

Edited by Rammie2000 on 2nd Feb, 2014.

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018
