I currently am running a 2wd cossie intercooler on my 1380 turbo, making 160 bhp at 13psi

I have a compression ratio of 8.1:1, and plan to up the boost to around 16-20 psi

I also have a 4wd cossie intercooler that I am currently modding, and am hoping to squeeze this in, in the place of the current intercooler

has anyone upgraded from the 2wd to the 4wd cooler? if so was it a worthwhile mod, did it release many more bhp?

if I can get it to fit I will go ahead, just wondered what the experience is of others who have upgraded to the larger 4wd item?

cheers, dan

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

Way to go Dan its larger and will flow more air and a cooler charge if you can get it in the air stream suitably,

you can bet your ass some one will post on here and say they are crap......... lol and it dropped them 10hp

haha cheers steve. hope you are having a great xmas!

we spoke via pm a long while ago about this, and it seems the way forward to me.

not even sure if it will fit yet, thought im giving it a good go. need to get the end tank modded yet again.

have you got yours running with the 4wd one yet?

was wondering if anyone had a direct comparison between the 2wd/4wd ones

cheers, dan

if 'fastfordmag.co.uk' are to be believed its supposed to be 70 percent more efficient than the 2wd one.

They are a fair bit bigger. Really cant see any downsides if you can make it fit.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Irrc the 4wd version had a fair amount more power, and was longevity mounted not transversely mounted so got a bigger intercooler in but its been years since ive been under bonnet of a cossie.

This is FORD country, on a quiet day you can hear Vauxhalls rusting.

Cheers steve, the car was a good few years in the making! Swaging those holes was an absolute pig with the curve on the bonnet, took a lot of work to get them sorted!

I have a build thread buried on here somewhere! Going to ask my old man s mate to hack a bit more off the end tank for me, hopefully it can be made to fit then. I will keep this updated. Cheers, dan

Nice.

Was it worth the effort?
I'm in two minds weather to get a 4wd one or use the 2wd one I have.

Either way I'll have to modify the ends, although I'm going to fit it behind the grille of my clubby and keep side rad.

Well I ran 160 bhp at13 psi before on 2wd ic.
changed to a 4wd intercooler, put the air intake behind the grille, upped to 16psi but only got 180 bhp. So on paper it may have helped towards the extra 20 bhp, on the road it is substantially faster

I run a side rad also on original mounting points. Ic took somefitting but should piss in behind a clubby grille. If I made it fit under a standard roundnose....
