OT but i just picked up a SIP 150 that's in need of some refurb, anything to look out for Rob? (know about putting a strap across the wire feed) I have a gasless sip welder i can nick spares from too.

After using the professional Mig at a friends workshop, I realised my SIP 130 was a piece of shit.

That said, the SIP does what it is supposed to do, and I still use it. Can I justify twice the price of the SIP on a used professional set up?.... Probibly not.

Whats all that about a strap over the wire feed ?

My SIP has had chronic wire feed probs, only reduced with a PTFE liner.

there is a trick to line up the rollers better which I've not done but really need to.

as for the welder, I replaced the torch with a euro fitting which also required a gas solenoid fitting. the machine is ok and has been well used but I will be replacing it with a better unit when funds allow

I just used shims to line up the roller.

I just use mine, never lined up any rollers and never had a wire feed problem not really sure what thats about :/ I have to tighten the grub screws on the swan neck from time to time, but thats about it.

I have the sip version of the that welder. Ok if going cheap but they have issues. The wire feed motor shares its power from the same transformer that supplies the rest of the welder, so when you turn the weld current up, the wire feeds gets a bit erratic etc.

Ah, now I understand.

Bit too complicated for me to tackle though

On mine, the drive roller and the bearing don't sit squarely with one another and can let the wire slip. Judging by the strap added, looks like i'm not the only one

Had a look at mine earlier, the 130 looks to have a different wire feed. the center of the tension bearing bears on the wire, and not the outer edge as is shown in the link above.
