not 2 sure about the metro, I believe the metro is under the hood. the era mini is mounted up under the left fender.

I c a lot of ppls running the mushroom filter under the hood, but I would like 2 retain the stock era location as its a ram air set up that's fed air through the left front spoiler air duct. so I figure cool fresh air will b much better than hot under hood air.

The filter element for an ERA Mini turbo airbox is an xr3i etc Ford fitment as far as I recall. I know it was not anything special for the Mini, as I was easily able to get a K&N filter for it back 20 years ago.

Just remove the filter and take it to any local motor factors, they're bound to have something that fits.

This listing looks like it uses "Alco" brand, and at least gives you some dimensions.
ie 336mm x 140mm x 40mm

This appears close, but check your own filter dimensions. You can check through for cross reference part numbers and other vehicles it may be fitted to on K&N's website
K&N dont seem to specifically list an RS Turbo or XR3i model. But good chance it's the same as the base 1.6 models.

Found that site last night myself. Handy to have.

Back in 94 when I built mine, I could just go to my local Rover/Unipart dealer and they had the microfiche there and I was able to order the airbox from them !

Probably not as easy now lol

Hiya Folks,

Just resurrecting a very old thread. Following substantial research in attempting to find the correct fitting filter, we found that the K&N part number: 33-2626 filter fits best with sufficient "lip" to be caught between the halves of the case. K&N 33-2001 and others do not have sufficient lip to offer up resistance to afford the clips to clamp properly.

We also found that WIX part number: 42170 is an excellent fit for a disposable paper filter.

Cheers

Ruffles

If you're in a dusty environment, 100% use an OEM type paper filter. The box has a good size to it and filtration area that it would be of no restriction anyway
