A little back I bought a clubby estate as it was cheap and always wanted another as my first road going mini was a clubby estate.
The intention was to tart it up slightly then run it for a while till my other project was finished then do a proper job,
But a few days after buying it my other half tells me she's pregnant*happy*
So plan was to knock this one together on a tight budget and run it round for a few years.

The car

Frame build
Would have used the frame from the other project but the estate has a twin bolt subframe.

Tie bar mounts, trying to make them blend in and to look sort of original when you look at the front of the car.

Completed subframe

Then when I went to tidy the engine bay up disaster struck, turns out the front end was completely shot, removed the windscreen and the a pillars were near enough separate from the scuttle and could easily be twisted by hand.
The bulkhead where it meets the floor was like a massive perforated line and the inner wings were non existent with repair panels held on by door hing bolts and silicon =(

Gutted!

So priced up all the panels and had heart failure, as my other half was expecting very soon money wasn't overly available so the plan was hatched.

I had a late cooper shell in the garage which had very little corrosion and had only cost £100 so was now going to be a doner although it was in good condition, I wanted the estate more and fancied a round nose.

The doner

Roughly chopped ready to unstitch the hundreds of spotwelds.

The estate

The plan is to use the bulkhead and floor from the cooper shell in the garage. I've a new floor extension peice, healboard, outer sills lower rear quarters the only none original join will be on the front pillers but I'll be using the inner piller skin from one car and the outer two from the other with a big overlap.

That's its at present apart from both halfs have now been blasted and put in red oxide, started doing small repairs on the front half earlier this week.

I'll update when there a bit more progress

Forgot to mention the engines the 160vvc Kseries, I'm going for a lightweight build taking advantage of lighter engine which is supposed to be about 20kg lighter than the Aseries.
My next head scratcher is I want a tubular rear suspension setup.

Would this engine also fit a round nose?

It's going to be a round nose when it's finished, but have kept the clubby parts if I ever want to go back.

]Finally got the two halfs of my shell blasted and back in one piece which was a big hurdle I was dreading.

Its not fully stitched back together yet ,just basicley tacked together to check if it was straight and the door gaps were good.
