Hi,

first let me explain what i am trying to do here.
I have got a turbo engine in mine 1990 checkmate.
This is al ok for the mot but not completly legal.

Now i can get this legal on the cars papers (cc's and horsepower)but then i need to show the rdw a registration of the car were the engine came from.
Now it came out of a 1000cc Mayfair so that is not going to work for them.

If someone can send me a copy of the papers of a MG metro turbo i can get my turbo engine legal on paper

What i don't know is if the engine number i on it or not in England??
In the Netherlands its not so that makes everything a lot easier.

So if someone has a (scrapper) mg metro turbo and would be so kind to make a copy of the cars papers i would appreciate that very much.

*happy*

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

Stupid question but why not just get a copy of the engine number on the loggy and rivet it on?

I think you mean the metalplate with the enginenumber on it *smiley*

I did not know you could get these blank.
But that is a option.

what they are saying is use your orginal engine number on your turbo engine as if the engine has not been changed

Done now needs redoing lol

Yes, I might know "someone" who had done this once - when they realised that an engine number on the block didn't match the number on the logbook, and there was no time to change the logbook.

The old rivets often will wind out quite easily by gripping them with a set of mole grips / vise grips and turning them anti-clockwise. If you have a spare engine that you can hack the old plate off with (leaving rivets in place), this gives a .5mm gap that makes it easier to grip the domed head and remove the rivet.
You can then use these "aged but intact" rivets to secure the desired (aged and intact) "alternate" engine number onto the block...

I think that was all the details my friend told me...

You can use a cold chissel and hammer. knock the head sideways a little, and then back the other way again, and the rivets usually wind out real easy.

I'm not sure the old rivets matter though since if you have the block skimmed even just to freshen the surface for the head gasket, you need to pin the plate back on again. Infact most just don't bother. That said, using old rivets and an old number will make it difficult to notice the difference at a glance.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

That is not what i want to do.
Overhere there is no enginenumber linked to the registrationpapers.
And if it was then it would say a 1000cc NA with 44 hp or so.

If i have a copy of a mg metro turbo then my papers will be changed to a 1275cc engine with 94 hp.
I can insure it like that and if i get in a accident everything is legal.
