I was just wondering what pistons you guys and girls are using in your engines as I've managed to lose my omegas and need to replace them. I will be running a charger and possibly convert to turbo down the line.

Cast Omegas seem to do well.

Got them in mine, but it's only driven 10 yards so far...

Lol I have searched the shed the loft and 3 garages that I use and I can't find them anywhere I thought they were in my loft with my mega jolt but after searching everywhere 3 times I gave up lol.

Had to sell some of my mk1 parts and Italian job parts to fund the new ones though :( but at least I didn't have to sell my mk1

Currently running the cast Omegas, they've survived some abuse over the last few years.

Well nearly!

Mine have seen some serious abuse, been hydrauliced once, and are as good as new. I guess yours failed because of det?

Amen Dave! Not sure how the van took all the abuse we gave it and the pistons came out like brand new!!!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Got to be down to the skill and experience of the engine builder(s) I reckon John ?

Or sheer good fortune in my case.

any piston , of any type , will fail if given one of these things ...

1)too lean
2)to much timing
3)too low octane
4)too weak cooling system .
5)too much rpm.

the fun is deciding which one or combination of them , is responsible.

I think in our case it was needle choice. The BCA was still rich with well over 25psi boost.

In company form accralite subsumed into omega: are their forged piston products still different? Preferences?
