Hi all,

I am on the hunt for:

2 x 165 x 70 x 10's

2 x 165 x 60 x 12's

2 x 175 x 50 x 13's

Basically I already have theses tyres on my cars on the back and looking for the front ones:

2 x 165 x 70 x 10 Yoko A032r's for my 1960 mk1 mini and probably want to stick to these.

2 x 165 x 60 x 12 Yoko A539's for my 1992 998cc run around

2 x 175 x 50 x 13 Yoko A539's for my 1971 clubby estate.

The use for the mk1, will be mainley track days and some road use, the 92' 998cc is only road use and the clubby estate will also only be mainly road use and maybe some drag strips, as it will be have about 200bhp in there.

Can some one advise me on the best tyres I can go for for these cars and thier use? Shall I just stick to the makes that I have already got, or shall I try different makes on the front?

Please anyone give me some ideas and help please

Cheers

Bobby

should have put it in the wanted fella :)

if i had a 200bhp clubby i'd buy new, your best bet for cheap tyres is mini shows
especially for the 10" a032r's

On topic A032Rs are great for the track but wear out pretty quick
if you go for the medium compound they're good in the wet, dry and warm or cold
the missus uses it on her daily driver on 10's
got them for £110 for a full set at L2B 2012

the a539's are perfect performance tyres in any weather, dont wear our so quick and nice and grippy too
my preferred choice on the road
alot cheaper for 13's to boot

I found a539 to be poo in the wet, got more grip from falcons but in the dry they were ace *smiley*. Had some 048 12" for a short period of time good in all conditions I was surprised.

Sorry but bullshit, even in the dry the a539s in anything that has any decent power are about as grippy as a pensioners bath mat! 32 and 48 r's are good in the dry but still not great in the wet, and I've wrecked a set in one track day, I am going for 008's next as its the only 10 I've not tried and they seem to get good reviews

I spoke to a distributor of yoko and was told that the a539's are out of stock until middle of July . Personal experience of these is they are ok for anything up to a standard 1275 mini but that's about it ! They also perish very fast . If your looking at tyres for drag racing and track you need a softer compound but expect to be replacing them very quickly .

I am in the process of trying out some maxxis MAZ1. So far done about 30 miles and they are proving to be good however time will tell .

When the A032's wear out on the blue mini I'll be putting 008's on it.

The clubby will get 032/048r's depending on what size wheels I run on it in future.

I agree that A539's are a bit pap really.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Will do mate , I must say they instantly look better than the yoko 539,s plus they are slightly slimmer meaning you get a bit of a stretched look . I will get some pics up for you buddy *happy*
