Can't really tell from the pic's, but it looks like some dirty rat scum bag bastard has put over sills on it. Get rid and put proper short sills on it before you find yourself with no inner/outer sills and floor edges.

Welcome BTW *smiley*

Il pick up where Jo left off, she's my misses for those who don't know.

Story behind the car is the other week a bloke came into the LAD and asked if I was interested in minis. He took out back to the stables and showed me this. He also owns another mini, a mk1 escort and a mk2 escort. I thought the mini would be ideal for Jo. So a deal was struck! Cost me £600 and then £150 to get it towed from Windsor to norwich. We drove up one night towing it behind the mk1.

The car is almost complete bar a few interior bits. It's on a K plate, so 1992. It's got a 998 in it on 59k.

The plan is pretty simple, get rid of all the rust and touch up the paint where needs be and get it on the road as jo's first car.

This is my first project, that il be doing myself. Between us we plan to do all the work. Iv hopefully found a 2nd hand welder and am on the look out for a grinder so then the real work can begin!

Take the outer off. You'll have to when you take the inner off. Youll probably have attention for a good outer 1/4`s of the floor pan about 1/2 of the way back. I suspect the cross member will need attention at the ends too.

You'll probably need to look at the rear 1/4`s at the bottom, the inner panels and the heal board too.

I dont want to be the bearer of bad news but I suspect its going to be quite bad elsewhere on that car.

Right im sat down at me laptop now, so can put some more pictures up.

Car before i bought it.

On our way to norwich, probably about midnight here.

Engine pic for good measure:

Onto the rust bits of the car now. The scuttle first.

Drivers A panel.

Wing

Front panel.

This is the passengers foot well. I chipped off the sound deading to reveal this after i prodded it loads with a screw driver and had a good poke. You can see the orange sticker from the new panel thats been put on. From the looks of it they have cut the outer sill over and slapped a pair of over sills on i think.

General sill shot, from the outside

And another from underneath.

A close up of passenger foot well.

This is on the passenger side behind the cross member, same sketch as the other pic. Oversill put on or new outer put on, but the inner hasnt been done.

Bit further alon, next to the rear bin.

Pic from inside the rear bin, can see the sticker here.

Take the over sills off and fit those 1/4 floor pans with the sill already attached.

which supplier can you get those from?

I was reading up last night, and it confirmed they were over sills because they dont have the vents. I thought they looked suspicious. Best order myself a grinder so we can start hacking the shell to bits.

could find out who makes these;
http://bullmotifminispares.com/4506/mini_q...2-75-5_repan087

I would however confirm the minimachine 1/4 floor and sill I had fitted to the estate was a good fit and I'll likely fit the same to the other side

Good plan, saves messing round. Just make sure you brace the door opening and floor before you lop it all out.

Looking at the photos, i'd anticipate you'll need the step sills as well
