I've recently been playing about with my friends gopro camera while at the Isle of Man TT got my footage downloaded to my external hard drive but my laptop isn't man enough to play the footage without it being glitchy :( I need a faster processor and some more ram. Now I'm completely shit with laptops and most modern technology are these upgrades something that can be undertaken by a novice or am I better off getting a new laptop? I have an hp laptop that is maybe 2 years old it was around 350 quid on special when I bought it

New laptop time then.
If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

Upgrading the memory is simples as meerkats say as it's just a case of plugging in the new ram cards but all laptops have a maximum upgrade capability so you'd need to find out how big you can go. I'm surprised you'd need that size processor, it's usually down to the graphics card if it can't handle large videos and these are pretty simple to do yourself. Trouble is the big boys like HP build in obsolesense. If you do decide to get a new laptop go for 1 of the lesser known names as they all use the same innards. Decide what you use the laptop for and base the laptop spec around that. For example if you spend 5 hours watching porn you need a good graphics card, a good internet supplier and a hook to hold your andrex or glitter sock (whichever is your preference) |
