Changed opinion about the 998

Hi guys,

I was always planning to build a 1275 turbo lump, but I was browsing through the forum and start to read this section. Ooh my, it completely changed my opinion about the 998 engines. Especially I found out that I almost have all the parts in my house to build this.

The parts I have at the moment are:
998 A-series in good condition, or a 998 A+, condition unknown
Unmolested 12G295 head (came from an 1100 automatic, probably MG or so)
Turbo carb + inlet manifold
plenum
cams I have to check what I have
2 good gearboxes to choose from

The parts to purchase: exhaust manifold, most likely Mirage, a turbo, and Megajolt or maybe Nodiz (depends on the reviews on this forum)

So, for now I will go this route and the 1275 has to wait, this one needs a complete rebuild and headwork.

But I have a questions regarding the turbo's and I couldn't find a proper answer here. Most of the 998's use the GT15 series turbo. But I was looking into it to use the GT1752, keeping in mind to upgrade later to the 1275 unit. I saw it is possible, but will it still be good as a daily driver?

Otherwise I will look for a good second hand GT1548, but does somebody know if there is a website with which car model used which turbo. I saw it before, but I cannot find it anymore, forgot to bookmark it :(

Coincidently I looked at this recently (just out of curiousity).
There is a thread about the 1548 and which turbo in what car..

Have a search couldn't find fast.

Well, had a quick look, but still cannot find the gt1548, only the 1544 and 1549.

But when I take a look on the Garrett website I only can find the 1544 and 1548, not the 1549.

Now I'm confused

I will do some more investigation, or maybe somebody has an answer on this.
