Hi all,
I have a 94 SPI which I am adding a superchargr to. I am aiming to run a single poly V belt but the timing case breather looks to be in the way.
Has anyone modified this cover or moved the breather to the rear of the cover?
Does it really need it at all considering the earlier minis don't have one?

I searched this site but there doesn't seem to be any photos of modified cases.

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers

I believe most swap for a 998 a+ timing cover.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

So the breather is not required?

You should really compensate by adding a breather to the rocker cover.

Ok.
Have others done this? Are there any photos around of the rocker cover breather?

Mine has a aluminium cover.

Probably close to the end. I have modified my rocker cover to take a 90 degree fitting.

I decided to remove the breather from the timing cover and weld it onto the blanking plate mounted on the rear of the block. Hopefully this works ok.
Has anyone done this before?

with the breather there, i'd want to use an oil catch tank on the outlet from it at the very least. that area of the engine gets oil flung at it all the time, and the can is never designed to deal with it.

i would be tempted to connect those two breathers into the rocker cover and then from the rocker cover into a catch tank.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Where do you plan to run the breather hose? The charger and belt may well be in the way...

Won't be in the way of the charger or belt hence why it is there.
I know there will be extra pressure there but I am still working on a solution for that. A catch tank or better filling inside the breather to reduce the splash back. I was planning on connecting both breathers together and then to the inlet manifold like it was originally on my SPI

You're better off feeding them onto a catch tank. Sprockets suggestion is best.

I'd rather not have the shit from the breathers fed into the inlet.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

To run a single multi V belt I had to make a idler pulley bracket and weld it to the cover. Just needs a coat of paint to complete it.
