Australia oi oi oi!

so i have had great dealing with this company, still hold them in high regards.

but there med light verto flywheel is dog shit.

I have had nothing but problems with this set up as made it clear when I bought it but was told it was the starter.

what i have found, is that there flywheel is not the same as the factory one the dimensions are out by a few mill each way, that ring gear seems ever so slightly of pitch.

the ring gear is 1mill difference in size from the factory ring gear.. ' i was told they only use factory ring gears not sure what to make of this comment. they don't it's after market for sure.

it sits 1mill in further on the crank.

it does not mesh with any starter i own.. Tried 3 & a after market one with verto & pret verto pinions, just to be sure.

my factory flywheel set works perfect with all starters.

very disappointing, it's been a good 2years but i did not even use the set up really as the car has been sitting while i built it up, im now at the stage i need this & tried to sort it at a engineering shop, maybe something wrong with my set up or engine?

i was told bin it, it's to much work, it's all out of wack compared to my factory one, tried spacers on the starter tried to angle it the lot back to the factory set up no problem.

I contacted MED, i told them my issue i would have been happy with part refund or just the fly wheel parts as im going to use the back plate etc.

but it was a NO, i understand it has been a long time but still there is something very wrong.

this is not the first time either, i called some local oz retailers & they have also had this problem before.

MED said im the first to report. oh well.

just a warning if it does not work right send it back straight away or at least try check it first.

i have a video of it & no way it will fit.

Sales of goods act of 1979!

Not sure how it works with overseas purchases but you should definitely look in to it Nick.

Instead of binning it, can't you fit another ring gear and fit it in the correct place?

I know you shouldn't have to, but as Med aren't playing ball it could be a way of salvaging it. *oh well*

it's been a muck around tbh.

the whole thing is out of whack & im over fucking around with it.

want to move forward in my build.

tried my factory rover ring gear.. problem is it's a med ring gear.. fits nothing OEM Factory. it's smaller in diameter!

MED told me they get their ring gears from Asia, so it would be a factory in Asia then.

The Verto flywheel has a Verto ring gear. What type of starters are you using? I'd have thought that there are few pre engaged starters in Aus, and in the main, they would be inertia?.......

Its easy to identify which ring gear you have as the pre engaged ring gear has plain gear teeth while the pre engaged ring gear has chamfered teeth.

From what I understand, going back some time, MED ring gears are narrower. I needed to replace a ring gear on an MED pre verto flywheel. I replaced it with a ring gear from MED as i was sure for some reason I do not recall, they were different from a standard ring gear, having said that, there is a narrower inertia starter ring gear available from Minispares. Not so sure about the pre engaged pre verto set ups.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
