Hi all.

As the mini is away at the moment and ive still got this shitty mondeo to ride around in i spotted this last year so had a punt.

Heres how it arrived.

It had ripped the bottom arm out of the subframe , so new subframe and suspension on that side

Even painted the subframe. lol

Then sum chav had brush painted the brembos. tosser, so stripped the paint and re did them with new seals etc

Quick pull on the inner wing

Wheels painted gray insted of the aerosol black ????????

Cambelt done while it was still in bits

And a few finished ones

Thanks rick

Cracking looking car! I'm Renault mad though! Had a R5 GTT as a daily for 7 years and going to look at a 172 at the weekend. Would love a 197 but still out my price range 😃

Yeah 172s are a lot of car for the money really. Had one myself last year and couldn't complain.

Thanks for the positive comments guys.

Ron, 172's are great, ive never owned one but used a few and done plenty of trackdays in borrowed ones.lol

Im a bit dissapointed with this one so far, 172/182's feel like you have a 2.0 in a clio , this doesnt , for them to get the power up its lost torque. 172's start to pull from 4k but have plenty of bottom end (from what i can remember) but this doesnt pull till 5.5k and flat at the bottom.

Ive still got my old silver 16v clio parked up but itl be 7+ years now since its moved.

That looks so nice!

Great repair job, nice work. I really wish I could paint. I bet it's so pleasing when it goes well.

Yeah I thought the 172 was quite aggresive in terms of power delivery. Seemed to have power throughout the range.

I sold my 182 and was looking a 197 but as you say I didn't feel the extra 15 or so PS and I think the Clio IIIs are a bit heavier than the IIs. I ended up buying an F1 R26 Megane as it is a bucket of fun.
