2.2 will work in batch fire (like wasted spark) as per the later v3, but it dosent have the protection for low impedance injectors,

also it dosent have much in the way of bits for driving coils so youd need to do some hacking to drive wasted spark coils.

Joe, do you have a photo of your tool?

The V2.2 requires hardware additions/modifications for ignition and for low impedance injectors.

And MS1 doesn't have a very good resolution for injection pulse width so when using big injectors, idle control is coarse. The code is also much more basic so there are fewer and less elaborate features. And there is no more development or maintenance done on the code.

hmm might have to rethink that one whats the next best ecu that has the features that would be required for a turbo 16v build

Matt,

I didn't mean to imply that it wouldn't work. It can work but you have to be aware of the limitations. There are many successful turbo 16V setups with an MS1 but there are definitely more optimal solutions.

You may want to have a look here: http://www.msextra.com/feature-xref.html and here: http://www.msextra.com/doc/index.html

well at this stage im aquiring parts so it would be easier to go for a sllightly better ecu with more features
I was focusing on the MS because of the cost not sure what others are adequate and at a relative low cost

Thanks:)

MS is great but its likely that you will need to do some moding unless you get an MS3, any good with a soldering iron?

if your looking for something more plug and play I'd suggest talking to Specialist Components, as their ecu's are reasonably priced, pluss they do looms ect for the K head mini

If, as Joe asks, are you any good with a soldering iron, I would just buy an MS2 daughterboard, do the very simple modification to it to make it 4 channel fully sequential, plug it into your 2.2 mainboard with the correct bits removed and use Jean's driver boards for the injectors (low z or high z).

It really depends on how much DIY you want - the SC stuff is obviously really good for minimizing the DIY part.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Thanks for the reply guys I am thinking about the SC route but quite enjoy tinkering and my soldering skills are pretty good and I think in the long run quite a saving by diy
Thanks again
