Just thought I would put this on here before going to my local scrap yard.

I took the cat off my wife's Mercedes V220 CDI the other day as the pipe attached to it was like Swiss cheese , I know there is a value to the cat and wanted to see if I can get some money back, the local scrappy said it has value but without looking at it he can't say how much, the thing is I don't know the rough value and don't want to get ripped off with him saying something like a £10 when it may be worth 5 times that . It's a genuine Merc one with all the markings etc and is very heavy .

Has anyone had any experiences with selling them to metal dealers ?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

If it's an OEM one more than likely it will carry a high value.

Best to phone around a few places first to see what they are offering, as prices do vary. If there is more than one cat on the car, say they are two cats from two cars.
I know one scrapyard here was robbing people saying if the cats were from the same car, they could only pay for one ! lol

speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will
