I've separated this from the Mini Sprite thread as someone may have missed it.

The 998Ti engine

Std 998 crank, balanced with VP2 bearings. High capacity oil pump. Centre main strap. Bushed rods and +0.040" Hypatec pistons. MD274 cam. Standard 12G295 head with 28cc chambers, stainless valves, unleaded seats and double valve springs. Duplex. Std gearbox rebuilt with new bearings, centre oil pickup and 2.95 CWP on a 4 pin Diff. Heavy duty verto clutch on lightweight steel flywheel.

Ran 120hp at 12 psi. Done just a few thousand miles since build.

Can be heard running for the next week or so, then it will have to come out of the car.

£1000 ono. Less than half it would cost to build a new one.

EDIT: It does not include the EFi/Turbo/Intercooler

Dear Sir . I am writing to you to get some help. Mr JB Perf told me to go to this site.

I have a Classic mini cooper 1998 air bag model with SPI engine. I want to make it to run with MPI. so I bought complete MPI manifold set with air cleaner too, ( Genuine rover) and I bought Megasquirt MS 2 set and assembled. form this point I have some issues to run my engine , Since I dont have a cam sensor. I am going to fix an original cam sensor to the original position since my engine block has a blanked spot. ( I may need to drill the block to fix it) can you please advice me about with your experience , how possible this.
My email is priyangagw@yahoo.com

Thanks
priyanga

Hi,

You cant use the MPi cam sensor on an SPi engine without also changing the camshaft.

I suggest you have a look at these threads and then start a new one:

Does it have a bad oil leak as the pallet is oily

That's a 30 year old trolley used for umpteen engine changes. What you can see is water from the pump inlet.

None of the usual oil leaks. It could do with some attention to the tappet chest cover seals. Easy job.

Maybe cheeky, but would you take £500.00 and I could collect it this week? I'm a student you see.

Sorry, but I'll break it rather than accept £500.

It's worth a grand, so no less than £750.

Having just built one of these myself I can agree that £750 is an utter bargain. I've spent over £1.5k on basically the same spec engine.

Sorry, but why should he lose cash just because you're still at school? Stop spending all of your cash or government grant (which he has probably already subsidised in tax) down the pub then!

Not many things wind me up, but I saw this first hand last week with someone begging for a discount because he was a student! Just pay for stuff like every other hard working, tax paying individual!

Rant over.....

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

It wasn't meant to be serious, and I'm actually on a gap year doing free work on farms for work experience ready for ag uni, and my only source of income is from the TA, getting minimum wage, to get the money for this engine I'm having to go on extra courses which are actually not what I enjoy, and next year I have only got one loan which goes straight the uni and I won't have a maintance loan but will get the money from working, I have also apied for disabled student allowance. Every penny counts you know.

Do you want to buy the engine Simon? If not, then your post is out of order.

I just took the comment as an explanation of his financial status.
