Hey guys so went down to slark yesturday, as usual the car was a complete bitch and didnt want to help any of us out what so ever, so much so she decided to develop a massive oil leak when you let off. Doesnt burn oil when accelerating just when you back off, Andy told me its probably valve guides/seals.

Anyway despite that, after a change of spark plugs from BPR7ES-11 to BP8ES the car ran and actually sounded like an engine instead of a tractor WOW what a difference, finally got the fuelling near spot on and then it produced this power graph:

Neil told me that I needed to re-build the carb as the jet in it wasn't too clever plus I hadn't done it before, Sort out the oil burning and then run it in and go back to him for a final tune then it would be spot on *happy*

Awesome result! Car is so FAST it literally tears your face off at 3.5k pahaha anyway cannot recommend Slark Race Engineering enough such a nice atmosphere being there and Neil didnt stop all day. Definitely go there if you need anything doing, its worth the travelling!

Glad to see your getting there. Sort these few faults out and get the boost wound up. Then you'll see what a fast mini is *smiley*

Thanks for the kind words guys :)

almost worth it, gotta get oil leak sorted, re-build the carb and get it run in then slark racing is going to re-tune it for me and we'll see what we finally get, but its running 10psi now and with a 9.1:1 CR im pretty much at my limit.

Little dissappointed tbh because I was hoping for around 120bhp and I was told from you guys that for my spec it should have made that easily :( Will see what it produces after its run in and been re-tuned.

Current spec is:

1310cc
T2 Turbo
10 psi
Kent 266 timed in at 106
Std head

Cheers :0)

You're certainly not on the limit of boost vs CR. I'd happily use 15+ psi.

Assuming its intercooled and setup nicely.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

Well done.

If you have to take off the head to fix the oil issues. I'd suggest just doing a 30 degree back cut on the inlet valves . that will give a cheap and substantial flow gain.

That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system

nice one craigie; get your bits sorted and see what it goes at like when fixed :)

oh a side not to what you were expecting. i run a t2 with 10 psi 1293; 9.1:1 comp so similar to yours and i make 126 apparently.... as per Stuart at vmax. the t2 will be a frustrating factor for you though the more boost you run and its ability to flow more gasses; example of this is lee ran 1bar though his (14psi ish) and it only made like an extra 8hp :p (btw i've no idea if my 126 is at the fly, wheels, back of the car, top of the piston figure but its a figure)

however that said grats enjoy now comes the tweaking and the ball ache of all the things you thought were ok start to fall a part haha

Well done. Some lovely curves you have there.
Once you're happy with it we'll have to go for a drive.
You should be able to happily run 14psi through the t2 with your cr.(I have with 9.3:1) if I remember right the t2 starts to enter the inefficient region of its map after 14 ish so you'll likely get more hot air than power.

If you mod the head you will get closer to your 120nana figure.

Yes the heads the bottle neck here as john says.

We recently Rolling roaded one of engines and it made 150 brake @ 13pounds of boost and 186 HP @ 16.5

Mind you it was a 1380 with a phase 2 and a gt 1752 a little different

Yeah, its probably the head thats holding me back, i couldnt afford to make it super duper but will sort that out later on *smiley*

Thanks for all the kind comments *smiley* unfortunatley the cylinder head is now on my table in the garage and it looks likely to be the valve guides/seals

In terms of power, Remember that rollers read differently from place to place. Slarks seem accurate as opposed to optimistic, so 100 on slarks might be 110 on someone else s.

If i can get 110 before head mods at 10psi ill be happy because I can go from there
