Hi all,
I have a pre a-plus 998 that uses lock tabs on the main bearing bolts. Will the main bolts be ok without the lock tabs - will they stay tight and not come loose? Is it worth using some hardened ARP washers with them?

I have tried to get hold of the later A plus type of bolt, but they are NLA - only other option is ARP, but these are pretty expensive!

Thanks

Edit bad spelling

I have never used lock tabs on main bearing or big ends - they slack off in use.

Use Loctite and the right torque and they will be fine. I dont always use the Loctite either.

imo, if its anything mildly performance based and good old stock parts are not available arp's are worth the money
i have never seen locktabs used but ive only have A+ engines

Ok thanks.
I have ARP's for the rods, as I managed to get some cheap(er) from someone who ordered the wrong ones, so that is sorted.

I don't know if the ARP stud kit is overkill for the mains or not and the kit is about £100
