I love these things, but they're pretty expensive?

I've been thinking about reshelling my hillclimber into a min iwith a boot. You can put a spoiler on the boot, which you can't on a mini. Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Wow, that's a great price for the condition it looks? I've only seen a few for sale, in only slightly better condition for upwards of £5,000...

I'm not totally convinced it is a Mk2 Elf.

the guy said its a 62 elf but registered in 64 so it could be. i wasnt sure the differences tbh. it was apparently restored in the late 90's. there might be a date stamped on the wiper motor and will get a heritage cert to check.

Love these things. Saw a cool one at a show last year. Black with red and gold force rims on. Looked sick. BHP sells engines, but Torque wins races! |

An 850 with magic wand would be a Mk1.

It would very probably be automotive murder to start modifying it for a turbo if it is indeed a Mk1...

You could remove the head light peaks and treble the value of the car! |

Looking at the feeBay pics, there are a few ancilliaries that have been changed for ease & convenience - the bonnet pull is from a different car for example.

the peaks are getting removed before i even set off home in it!!! i will remove the bonnet release too and sort the roof out. will see what i can do regarding the bootlid. think putting it back standard might be the right thing to do. shame..... think it would scare a few people with a 1330 turbo lump running on 10's. :) balls to the blower!!!

Elfs have an internal bonnet release (30 years before the Mini) because there is no other way of opening the bonnet !
