A few quick pics of what i did in 30 mins, going to have a further crack tomorrow and will get more pics too. also do a write up at some point

- Update -

This is how it stands now, I will be making further mods to it to make everything a bit more fancy looking.

I hope this maybe of some help to you guys on here, I will be doing another in the future maybe a little more extreme using a turbo carb for my engine which i will do a full step by step guide on, but for now these are some of the mods I have carried out.

Mod one - is to use the dashpot retainer screw instead of the original butterfly screws, this allows for a much smoother flow on top which you can see instead of the top heavy screws, the ends of each screw will be removed and they will get thread locked in place.

Mod two - was to give a brushed surface to the throttle plate, this was due to finding information across the web showing that smooth ones collect fuel and create larger droplets which we don't want.

Mod three - is the expansion of the air side of the carb, creating a slight trumpet effect hopefully condensing the air like a ramp pipe would (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Mod four - using my die grinder i have taken roughly 1.5mm-2mm off each side of the throttle spindle, I started by marking out roughly the edges of the carb centre on the spindle, then grinding away the material to a depth I believed would still be strong enough on a boosted engine to stop it from caving in under excessive load, next was to start taking all the spindle down to the same level while trying to keep it from getting flat sides on the spindle. After I was happy with it I then started blending it into the throttle plate so there were no harsh edges so flow wouldn't be hampered.

Mod five - roughen up the smooth area between the centre of the carb and throttle side to stop fuel droplets forming again found the information on the web for this.

Once I get around to it, I will be creating a fully flat surface on top and a two dimple surface on the bottom (for screw threads). all mods so far have been done by eye, the finished product will be measured up to make sure it gives a consistent flow.

There is still loads to do i want to open up both sides of the carb as well, had been thinking of getting it bored out with a new throtel plate but thats a fair while away, just concentrating on the spindle and stub stack atm.

I think the hardest part will be finding more of the screws in the size i want then how to lock them in place tight enough.

Do you think thread lock will work or super glue?

Got to be careful not to take the bridge out or carb becomes dead.

I would of thought that knife edging the butterfly would be a worth while mod.

I would do this but as i dont have a vice at my house or anything to keep it steady im to worried about distorting the shape and it then wont seal properly again. But thats the plan for the next one i do *smiley* along with a huge air side entery and possibly a larger than 44mm bore with a new throttle plate ect is the plan

Australia, brisbane

might be a dumb question but can you blend the bridge not remove it but just blend the sharp edges keeping a nice parallel line bridge to suction piston with out touching the top of it?

You can chop one side of the throttle spindle off completly and use a little button head screw saves pissing about with a die grinder for hours

Speeding is like masturbating, everyone does it, but not all of us film it and put it on the internet
