Couldn't resist buying a Blitz 2 kit car to turbo. Already road registered and tax exempt. Going to use the engine/box/etc from my mini. Should be a laugh... Hopefully a quick project not a full strip and start again, and then I'll decide what to do with the mini (rebuild / sell / break).

Some pics to show the starting point.. very.. colourful.

and I might need to change these:

Yes, that might not stay either... but it may become a hoist for the garage.

Not sure, didn't look too hard. I'll look at the weekend.

I think it is one. It's certainly a nikki manifold, and it has a GM in the casting on the carb.

Help needed time. I need to remake the arrangement that holds the steering arms to the subframe at the back. The existing method is a bit shit.

I want to use track rod ends to a shaft then rose joints bolted to the subframe. This means I need to make up some shafts with the correct left and right hand UNF threads on for each track rod end and the female rose joints so they are adjustable for toe in/out. I don't have a 1/2 unf left or right hand die. So if I supply dimensions can someone make the shafts for me? I'll pay for them obviously.

Hexagon rod would be ideal, but I could cope with round, they won't get adjusted much.

Make sure you attach the shafts at the correct point (height), this to reduce/prevent bump steer.
I heard this can be quite scary if done incorrectly.

Update. Engine and subframe in, chassis modded for rear (ex front) coilovers. Wheels pointing right way and note taken on the bump steer comment (thanks for reminding me).

Some shit progress pics.

Big rad.. I will duct air to the I/C. Notice coilovers.. unusual on a blitz and a PITA to fab the top mount.

Rear fixed steering thingyjobber. Fixed in the same place the rack normally pivots so bump steer should be the same as a normal mini hopefully.

Reconned the metro 4 pots used on the rear brakes. Total pain, and by the time you factor in time and courier costs for the parts you don't save much on just buying a set and selling the shagged ones on ebay.

Rear bump steer will be bad methinks!??

This is FORD country, on a quiet day you can hear Vauxhalls rusting.

Fair play!

I suppose it's weighs nothing, and has plenty of power, so it'll be the least of your worries anyway!

What's the tmic from? Or is it a custom one??

It's an aftermarket one for an MR2 I think. Had it a while so not sure. Not custom anyway.
