Hi guys im Dev. live in stoke, currently in my second year of an apprenticeship for iveco trucks and vans, where 400+bhp is normal *happy* been on the forum a while, bought and sold a few things but never really introduced myself, only been driving the mini 18months after i restored it/resprayed etc..

I ran it like this for a while, loved it. everyone looked, it looked mean.

anyway,to cut some very long stories short, i'v never had an easy life. be it snapping clutch master clevis's, spinning it on roundabouts, bursting rear tyres coming back from newquay, as to which i drove there on a blown headgasket, dont know if anyone saw me there in 2011 changing the headgasket!

well to top it off, the last few months i got run into...

so then i changed a few things..

been running alright for a few weeks, till last week, then came a speeding ticket, and i decided its time for the offski.

bought a polo bank holiday weekend and now the minis in the workshop ready for some proper action. my old man always blames my breakdowns for stuff i should of changed when i did it the first time, but yet he still says if it aint broke dont fix it..
Been collecting bits for ages, so now having a daily drive car i can mock it up, fabricate, take my time and do it right. this forums inspirational at best. the ideas i get just flicking through build threads is awesome so hopefully i can manage to complete some stuff finally!

spec will follow shortly:) just wanted introduce myself, kinda picture heavy i know but heyho we all prefer pictures to reading. keep up the boost, Dev.

haha cheers wez, god i miss them seats, so comfy!
saw you the other day mate hows the 30 going nowadays?

Cheers lads, yeh the mirros will be going dont worry, to behonest theyre great when your driving, give great vision, and serve a purpose with a built in side indicator, but the door frames are goosed now, so fancy a change!

Spec at the minute, +20, 276 cam, then everything else is fairly standard, still went bloody well but i've got a 1340 lying in the garage waiting to be put together, a 286 cam, full megajolt kit, also fancy making my own turbo manifold, in preparation for the future..
but torn between running a race spec 1340 with weber or pretty mild spec with a turbo strapped on.
dont have thousands to spend but i wont skrimp on things either.
anyway i babble on, hopefully have the engine out this weekend, but first making some tubular brace bars, tomorrows job...

working underneath a van, axle stands on the chassis and under the axle, but one of the axle stands on the chassis slipped, sending the van down and forwards, so the other axle stands jst fell over.
something crushed my hand, chassis rails hit my back/shoulder. had no wheels on the ns rear, the discs sliced my lumb hammer handle in half *frown* ha . lucky i got out from underneath it, otherwise id be dead.
had to use forklift to lift it back up..
because the axle stands have two sections to them it makes them slip when the centre is extended, hard to explain without you seeing the stands, otherwise it sounds bizzare...

Shit me son. Glad you're on your way to recovery. Hopefully, something like this won't happen again. I tend to be a little less cautious when working with stands under the mini as it's just a shell at the moment but when it starts becoming more complete, I'll take extra care. I know it's not quite a van bit 600 odd kilo's coming down on you can't be good.

And every body says you should use axle stands when working under a car because there safer than a jack!
