After i introduced myself a while ago, ive finally got round to making a build thread.
Think everyone on here knows that most rebuilds take time and deep pockets and my project is no different.

Bit about the car. Its a black studio 2 which i bought i think in 2006. I ran it standard for about a year until the modding and rust bug caught hold. I sent it to a local garage for a front end and respray but after a couple of years it soon went to shit again.
Mods were:
chrome show cage which was never actually bolted in. (wont be refitting this)
Manifow exhaust + inlet with pipercross filter. That came off a 1275.
SU 1 1/2" carb
12x6 ultralight wheels
HI-lo's
spax shockers
W+P arches
EBC gree stuff pads. (never had a problem with them on the standard disks)
HID headlights and LED side and numberplate lights + front fogs
Carbon effect 3 clock dash with oil pressure, vac and volts gauges
Kenwood headunit, pyle mid/tweets in the front, alphasonic mids in the rear shelf and a 10" pioneer sub in the boot with alphasonic 800W amp.

RR at minisport years ago gave me 56BHP at the flywheel and 29 at the wheels. Still it wasnt bad for a 998 which never let me down and got thrashed everyday.

I took it off the just after i bought my house as i had a small accident in it (hit a post) which sent the front subframe out of alignment. Never been the same since and also needs bodywork again. Once it was laid up my daily became the rascal and still it.

My intentions for the mini are a lil different than i think most on here. Im not going for the stripped out, lightened racer. Infact total opposite. I just want a nice ride with a good quality interior and nothing balls out.
Im choosing 998 turbo, well just because i can. Ive NEVER owned a car with more than 1000cc
New engine spec so far is:
998 block bored out +20 with dished pistons (cant remember dish size)
Not chosen a cylinder head yet but i have had the block pocketed for a 1275 head if i decide to fit one.
Balanced and hardened crank
Center oil pickup
Gearbox reconed with hardened diff pin. (think i should change this to a Xpin)
And being honest i DIDNT build this engine. Minisport did a long time ago. I Dont want to have to strip it and check whats inside but ive got a feeling i will end up doing so.
As for a turbo its gonna be tiny. I dont want any bulkhead mods and im not after megga boost. Ill be over the moon with 100BHP if thats going to be possible with the right setup.

At the moment this is all hopes and dreams stuff. I just got the old engine out today and still acessing the shell which i reckon needs going on a jig but isnt all that rusty :)

Now for some pics.

When i first bought the car

After respray

This is a relay board i made because i kept burning out light switches.

As it stands now.

Birthdate

Running on hopes and dreams now

Old faithfull

Thats all for now folks.

good luck mate keep us up to date. Im building a 1098 engine with tiny turbo on home made manifold my aim is 100bhp for now but going by garrett and graph it should be capable of alot more. garrett rate the gt1544 130-150 BHP but i would be surprised it is so tiny .

Good work. I've used a 998 turbo as a daily ride with full comfort for the last 8ish years.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Thanks lads. This is only the begining. The shell is faitly soild and thankfully doesnt need too much work doing to it... well not that ive seen so far.
I just so many ideas in my head for it at the moment that i dont know what to do. I really need to get to a few shows for inspiration. Next one for me is tatton park.
Talking of inspiration the quick 998 conversion you did will was awesome.
