Well I thought I would post my mini project for everyone to see. This will be the biggest project I have ever started by myself. Let me start by saying how I got the project. I have a 1991 mini from Germany that I had for a few years, that I crashed in the beginning of March. I was very sad to see my baby crushed. My insurance totaled it and I got a some money to find another mini. Well I saw a post from a local member in my mini club forum. It was a 1971 mini Clubman Turbo. Well I went out to see it and found out it had the camshaft destroyed and had another motor to put in it. So I thought about it for a while and decided to pull the trigger and buy it. I brought it back to my place and did some things to it. Yesterday I had a guy in my local club help me look over the other motor and decided to swap the motor in my 1991 mini into the clubman and rebuild the other motor for the turbo. Thanks for reading here are some pics now.

I like the colour scheme, red with black roof is a good call.

Your number plate is pretty cool too *tongue*

Thanks I really Like the plate also. I added a quick release for the steering wheel. It is the NRG 3.0. I just need to figure out where to route the horn button wires for the steering wheel. Any Ideas?

Well Its been awhile since my last update thought I would do that now. I got my motor pulled out of my 91 mini and dropped it into the clubman. Added my new maniflow header on and put the starter and alternator back on. Put the carb on and radiator. Today I cleaned up the front disc rotors of the surface rust and started to put the bolts on the thermostat housing and that is when the head cracked. So now I have to pull the head and swap it with another motor I have here. Not a happy person right now because I want to get it running and on the road before next weekend.

nice clubby mate loving the colour scheme but from your photo your old mini looks like it could be repaired.

The wires for your horn could go through a rotary coupler. Like one used for an airbag.

Shitter about the head. I've not seen that before.

And I agree with above. Your old car looks salvageable.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

not seen that happen on the head before; any indications why it has happened?

agreed with the others, the old car looks very saveable

Not sure if was already bad before but I was tightening the bolts for the thermostat and it just gave way. I have another 1275 motor I will just swap the heads.

Yeah I want to repair the other mini just don't have the money right now to do it. There is a guy in my club that wants to buy it, but not sure if I want to sell it.

Well I pulled the head off my donor motor and cleaned it up a lil bit for the swap. That is all I have done so far just too busy to do much. Waiting on a few parts to finish up. I am going to have my turbo bock and head looked at to see it is all good and work on that in the winter.

Well Last Sunday I put the motor back together and gapped the valves. Have not gotten around to do much else. Still waiting a a few parts. I should have never ordered from minimania. I always order from 7 enterprises. Need to get a part still but waiting to see if I need anything else don't want to spend $12 for shipping on a 90 cent piece.

Yeah the black one is totaled but is repairable. I have a guy in my club that wants to buy it and fix it up. I got a lot of great comments on it. Can't wait to get the clubman running. Hope I don't run into any more problems.

Well I have it all together with no help from anyone. The project has been a pain for me and has stressed me out, I can't wait for it to be done. The last thing I have to do is remove the immobilizer that is in the car as it won't let me start the car or done anything for the matter.

Thanks for the comments, I really like the colors too.

I pulled the control box for the immobilizer and then hooked up the battery. Now I have lights and wipers. The only thing I don't have is turn signals and I think brake lights.

Well its been awhile for an update. I got the starter to finally work and got the fuel regulator down to 3-4 psi. Just couldn't get it to turn over. No matter what I tried it wouldn't do it. So I got it towed to a guy in the local club and just waiting for him to have time to look at it. Since I have a lot of time on my hands right now I might tear into the other motor and get it ready for the turbo swap.

I finally got it running and have been driving it around town. Still most gauges not working, but the fuel gauge is. I have another set of gauges for my cooper I have and will swap them out. Waiting on a banjo bolt to fix the front calipers. Then I will be back on the road.

Well today I started taking apart the turbo block I have. I pulled the pistons and crankshaft off and a bunch of other stuff. The pistons say CTF +0.508. Not sure what CTF is but they are +20 pistons from what I searched. All the parts look good to me, but I have never pulled apart a motor before. I have another 1275 to take apart and get it machined for the these pistons so it will be awhile before it goes into the clubman.
