A few of you may have noticed this new section appear.

As regular users will know, TurboMinis is a privately run site, the server is paid for mainly by donations from users, with some advertising revenue.

With the recent addition of the "Server Fund" thermometer, a lot of the TM users have really stepped up to keep the bar in the green and keep our great resource and community supported.

What we (admin) have decided is that we feel that some of the regular traders should also contribute to the site costs.

Here at TM we define a trader as a person selling multiple quantities of goods to other users. Selling of new or used individual items is not considered to be trading.

Over the next week or so either myself or one of the admin/mod team will be contacting the users we consider to be traders under the guideline above, and will be inviting them to make a payment to allow them access to this traders section for a 12 month period.

You may have noticed the "Kept TM alive" badges have changed slightly, there will also be a similar "Traders" badge for the traders.

This section will be reserved for the use of the traders only.

Excellent idea, did just click the 'become a TM Trader' but it just asked for a donation of 1p but am guessing it will be a little more than that so will wait for someone to contact me

Is it a set amount Tom? or is it down to the traders to decide based on whether its just a small batch of products now and again or a full time business?

I seriously doubt it!

Aren't you then effectively selling the impartiality of this forum?

Are we going to see moderation of topics that make negative comments about products sold by traders that have made a donation?

We already moderate topics like that Paul, constructive comments are allowed but negative and derogetory comments are deleted. I have cleaned up a few topics in this way myself

A fair idea to me. When I've sold mutiple items I've generally given a percentage to TM fund. Making a profit using TM's facilities, its only right to contribute back.

Paul S, I think Dave sums it up well here.

Nothing in my eyes will change, except for encouraging the traders to support the site.

Alex and myself are really chuffed with the response over the last months since the introduction of the server fund bar. This new section is intended to assist with the server funds.
