Decided i may as well start a project thread on here now, as i have a lot of spare time on my hands, so im going to try and crack on with my car now.

A quick rundown of my planned build:

1380 T3 charged on metro manifolds
SCCR box & drops
2 core rad
Omega pistons
Pre verto clutch setup on ultralight fly
Megajolt
Digidash
Unnecessary weight shed (rear bins and bench gone)
Carbon dash with AEM gauges & Digidash
Little bit of an audio install
Leccy windows, central locking, alarmed and immobilised
SPI tank with an upated pump
Lexan/poly windows
10x6 wheels
Fully adjustable suspension
My own wiring loom
Full stainless exhaust from t3 elbow onwards
FG bootlid, front end & bonnet
Safety devices 6 point bolt in cage

My target power is 170hp @ fly, Target weight hopefully staying a little under standard road weight
Going to be doing the engine and transmission build myself (as much as is possible with what tools i have)
So i'm definately going to need as much help as i can get!
Thanks to all the help i've received this far in for steering me in the right direction, and for bits and pieces i've needed!
A little of what ive accumlated and done at the moment:

It'll be the one under the green cover, but the end result will be the same as the black one, its past its sell by date,so im nicking all the bits off it i want and im using it as a shed!
The shell was too cheap to pass up and theres not a lot of repairs to do on it, so im going down that route if you catch my drift.

Theres a bit on the rear passenger arch, front floorpans, boot floor and rear valance, drivers shock mount, drivers outer sill and it needs a scuttle, some of the work has already been done.
So not an awful lot really except i cant weld to any standard, might draft in some help to get the big bits sorted and have a go at the smaller bits myself.

Yeah that doesn't sound too bad, and keep practising the welding, im not so great either but its easy enough on the smaller jobs.

Just taken the plunge and ordered one of these http://www.digital-speedos.co.uk/rx2n-10k-...ition-206-p.asp
Should be one of the multicolour ones as he doesnt have many left, I'd rather have it red than blue, just having the head unit blue before just gets on your tits after a while haha

Digidash turned up today, Very pleased with it and the service from digital speedos. So much stuff to get my head around, and all the settings on the dash i need to play with when it's eventually fitted. I like looking at the water temp sender adaptor *tongue*

Hmm very tempted by one of those, you will have to let us know how you get on with it. its either that or one of the race tech ones, but there 600 notes!

Will do, might be a while before i actually fit it, but if the functionality is anywhere as near as good as the quality ill me mucho pleased!
Theres a few vids of the dash on the internet, but the only thing im unsure of is the coloured backlight, you change it via turning on the headlights, then switching to main beam, and then back. So im not sure if you flash the headlights it changes colour, but i wouldnt have thought theyd make it do that haha.

I have the reducer plate thing for it tom, im not 100% how well it is going to work, but it brings the IC outlet in a far better position.
Ive had a thought if the restrictor plate doesnt work as it should, Get a replica restrictor ring from the metro plenum made up, and put a backplate on it, open the plenum up, and weld the restrictor ring to the top of the tube that goes down to the carb, then tap into the fuel pressure feed in the carb to connect to the plenum, and block it off where the plenum mounts to the carb. Reckon that could work?

Ah! I knew these would end up common as muck after the group buy!

Depending on your seating position, that extra pod leaves the gauges at a horrible angle. I chopped the back of mine at an angle so I could comfortably see the gauges.

Ah yeah i see what you mean mate, Whats the centre console like in regards to the gearstick? I dont mind bending it a bit if need be, it looks a bit close for comfort. I wont be having a quickshift either. And is that the arch trim around the edges of the dash? Im not sure what to use on mine and thought that'd be the best bet.

Yup, arch trim around it, and gearstick needed a bend.

Well, today ive carried on stripping the shell down, steering column off, switch panel out, pedal box out, clutch master and slave out, brake servo out, gear linkage off, heater dropped out.
But, taking the heater and clutch cables out i found something odd, which looked like a switch of some description on my choke cable. It wasnt connected to anything though.
Is this off a metro?
I'm guessing that you connect to that spade terminal the earth of a tell tale light, when pushed fully in the contact is on the plastic shoulder of the cable and the light isnt on. But pulled out it uses the choke cable as earth telling you you've left your choke on?

Theres a light on the dash on metros so when you pull the choke out the light comes on to tell you what you just done. *Clapping*

Lol, i was just wondering where it originated from haha. Bit daft really, i can understand if its an auto choke, but on a manual? :S
I wonder how many people actually relied on that light when the car started driving like a piece of crap before they realised they'd left the choke on....

Not really done much in the new year, lacking motivation. Today i managed to get the rear loom out of the car (complete pain) took the rear lights out, tank out and drained, boxed a few random bits up that ive taken off, so all there is left to do is remove the subframes and stuff and the brake balance doobreyflopper on the bulkhead. I have ordered an extended drop bracket from Jon Betts, who was very helpful! Should be with me soon :)
And looking at other projects ive decided to tub my arches, which in turn means my car is going to be a little lower. And with all the speedbumps around here i'm going to have to move the gear selector to internal, and i want to move the fuel lines, brake line and battery cable internal too. Decided the best/easist way of doing the selector is to invest in a KAD linkage kit. Which means it brings the whole lot back a bit, so i can move my seat back a tad also. Going to buy one of Jon's harness bars that goes between the seatbelt mounts either side of the rear screen and braces to the parcel shelf when he has those finished too. Think ive settled for fitting mig arches aswell, there isnt really a lot arch wise that takes my fancy, and its not going to be long before i get picked up for my wheels&tyres sticking out the bodywork by a foot either side!
