hi guys , I have been on the search for a 1725 engine , but most of them have been abused , so my plans were to build a 998 turbo , i was going to pick a cheap 998 engine up with dizzy carb e.t.c , and then convert it to a turbo engine , but i dont know everything i need , so ive come ask on your advice what i understand at the minute i will need is :

998 engine
t2 turbo
mirage manifolds
inter cooler
silicone hoses and pipe
metro turbo carb
metro turbo plenum
fuel pump-(dont know whats best)
fuel regulator-(dont know whats best)
return line for fuel
oil return-(dont know where it go's)
oil feed pipe-(dont know how much , diameter e.t.c)
actuator-(dont know whats best)
mega jolt ignition
cam- (dont know what is best suited )
boost gauge
4pin dif - (where from ?)
centre pick up pipe

that's my basic understanding

i know i need to lower the compression ratio to about 8.5 so i can run a highish boost ,but don't know what i would need to do this , (dished piston's,decompression plate e.t.c), but i will have a controller , as it will be a daily drive more than likely so i can have low boost for everyday driving , and high for when i want abit of fun .

if i have missed anything can someone let me know , any advice would be greatful, also if anybody thinks there is any worth while jobs to be done while i have the engine stripped they would be appreciated thanks :)

fuel pump-(dont know whats best) Any rollervane injection type pump, an easy way is to buy an MPi tank with the pump in it.
fuel regulator-(dont know whats best) Metro turbo one (look on minispares).
oil return-(dont know where it go's) It goes to the fuel pump hole on the block, you will need to make something up..
oil feed pipe-(dont know how much , diameter e.t.c) Search on here there is info on the T2 feed.
actuator-(dont know whats best) Just use the one that comes with the turbo..
cam- (dont know what is best suited ) MG metro (non-turbo) or Kent 500.
4pin dif - (where from ?) Minispares.

Don't use a decomp plate, use a combination of chamber size and piston dish to achieve the correct CR. In all my engines I got a 2-4cc dish machined in some flat-top pistons.

I'd look at getting some new pistons and rings, and change the oil pump and bearings too..

cheers for the links apbellamy for the links , second one doesn't work for me though :S. thanks for answering them questions will_h, what would be the best way to lower the compression ratio , as a few builds i have seen including yours use the 12G295 to lower it, i wouldnt mind aiming for about 90bhp if not a tad bit more , would that be reachable with a standard block ?

Standard internals will be fine with a LOT more than 90bhp.

look up my build thread below. I'm sure my first install would have been capable of more than 80 bhp with mapable ignition.

1275 N/A Sprite, 998 T2 Turbo Mayfair
1275 EFi Turbo
