My dad built this, somehow all the radio gear and stuff dissapeared, and handed it to me to never be used again, until today.
Just fitted a new Electronic speed controller, a 'racing' spec motor, battery ive had for ages, and some radio gear.
Need a new transmitter cos mine keep cutting out at full forward throttle, bit annoying.
Also need to be careful where i use it, as it has the ground clearance of a gnats cock! *tongue*

I've had one of these for a while gathering dust as it doesn't have any guts! Any idea what Rc gear to get?

You need a transmitter and receiver - 2 channel 27mhz, a pair of crystals, a servo, an electronic speed controller, battery and charger, a motor and some double sided tape or Velcro, must be strong though. And then the part of linkage to connect the steering to the servo, and a servo horn. You may need an additional battery holder for the receiver dependant on what esc you get, i just connected mine to the esc battery wiring, so its simply connect the battery to turn it on.
Oh and you can pick up some Acoms radio gear quite cheap on ebay now, either Acoms or Futaba I've ever used.

Stoke-on-Trent. Duck.

Ace, mine's still in the garage loft though it needs new servos. I'll have to dig it out again and get it going - and perhaps paint it.

Seem to remember the foam tyres were shredding themsleves on tarmac though (not surpringly!)...

Edit: Wooooow. Tuning bits! http://www.mardavespares.com/mardave-tyres...sort=20a&page=2 *Clapping*

I did replace its pull start a few years ago... dunno if its kaput tho.

It needs some sort of seal on the crank as fuel leaks into the pullstart housing.

Plus you could disconect the rear drive belt to make it just fwd *happy*

I shall have to hide the HPI Nitro until you both have your real Minis finished :)

Haha, the mini shell is roughly 215mm from wheel centre to wheel centre. Just been out and bought a new transmitter, aerial sleeve and a mount, some R clips and a switch for the radio gear, ill get a finished pic up after :)

Just re uploaded my original pictures.
Never got that switch to fit either, and found out that the speed controller powers the reciever through the signal cable D:
So no need for additional battery power for it :)

Cool. I used to race these until I left England. My father bought mine in 1984 (!!!) - but it was 1994 before I started racing... Happy memories indeed *smiley*

The only thing to verify is that the motor in yours is a 7.2V rated RS540 as the older model mardaves used to use 4-cell battery packs (4.8v)

The best fun you have with this will be on a vinyl floor. Power slides, J-turns and everything in between.

*smiley*

Ahh i replaced the motor dave for a yokomo high torque one *happy*
Ive just this minute finished re-assembling my Tamiya monster beetle, using airplane radio gear >_<
Found it in the loft hunting for bits and pieces and didnt have another futaba reciever, but it works perfectly albeit i need to keep swapping the batteries over between the transmitters.

I now have my one of these sorted! Found a 550 motor going spare in a old car. New esc, 7.2v battery and some cheap radio gear. Goes really well too much throttle and it spins, forgot how much fun Rc cars are!

I bought an old yokomo 4wd car off a mate, fixed it up and bought a new shell for it. Putting headlights in soon and have working stop/tail lights *happy*
Plan is to have a go at r/c drifting.
