Heloooo I'm starting my turbo build this weekend and was just wondering how much power you think it'll produce. It's going to be used on the road/ track days and eventually a road trip to France :)

Seems reasonably well thought through, but you won't get 20psi from a T2. Much over 12psi and you will be just generating heat.

When I say it will generate heat what i mean is that much over 12psi and the T2 is outside of its efficient range. The inlet air temperature just rises massively so although your boost gauge might tell you you are running higher boosts you probably won't be running much more power and probably risking detonation. No amount of cooling of the turbo will fix this.

Any thoughts what turbo he should use if he wanted 20psi on a 998 wil? Is there anything that will spool at a reasonable threshold? If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

Well the GT17 will easily make that, but it's not something that I'd want to live with every day.

T2 50 TRIM still above 65% EFF up to 22 PSI... at 140 to 150 bhp.

The map may well say that, but our real life experience with the T2 on a 998 was not the same. We managed about 135 bananas, but were always on the limit of det.

If your still in the machining phase would it not advantagous to pocket the block for a 1275 head or is this not necessary on a turbo motor with the esstimated bananarage?

The 295 head makes a good road engine. For 150+ a 940 would be my choice, but in this case a well modified 295 will be the best choice. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk
