Hi gents,

Maybe you saw this in what I do not dare to call "my build" anymore *oh well*






That's a 998 block I got for free.

I have a 1098 cranck to go on it and it will be matted to my Renault 16V head (SOHC)


First gathering parts.

I only got one of the rods and I just checked the price and they are not exactly cheap ??!! *surprised*

I'd rather spend my money on turning the cranshaft down as Apbellamy had done on his ...

Anyway, I am thinking about :
polishing the journals,
cleaning up the block to lighten it,
searching what is said about oil cooling the piston on SBU,
fitting a baffle plate,
dry decking for the new head






(one more) long term project ...

What is the best between push fit / press fit pistons (specificaly with a high piston speed / long stroke crank) ?

Can I retrofit one type into the other ?

The project will start as a NA 16V 1098 over bored to wathever it can take.
Standart engine from the factory with 1,2 liter and this head is 75 HP N/A or 100 HP turboed.
Obviously they are tuned for economy, silent running and the like so a little more can be expected *happy*

I use the Minispares pistons (20950) that can be fitted to both types of rods. I always use the other type for ease of assembly, hence these were available fo postage!

They can be reamed out though.

So far, it looks like I either stay 998 or buy my pistons from minisport, UK or OZ ...
