I then take the weight off the winches on 4 x 2 ton straps and the mini then gets parked under it. Just gives more space. Paul "I'll get there in the end" |

That looks fantastic! Just had a squint at your build thread on 16v too, seems like you've been through a few different wheel choices?! When are you hoping to start racing?

Edit; for anybody wanting to follow the build (Paul, hope you don't mind this link?!) http://www.16vminiclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7486 The build has been a total progression over the last 7 years. I made a mistake last seasons racing by going onto 10's with Hoosier tyres. Hoosier do not make a suitable tyre with a construction that suits the big heavy block vauxhall. I finished the season early last year so i could sell up all my wheels to be able to get some 13's and Avons for this year. My car was ready back in January and i had a full years racing planned right up until i lost my job back in March. No racing so far this year as nothing to fund it with. I'm doing the 16vmini track day in July and i think that will be it unless i get a job soon. Paul "I'll get there in the end" |

Love the car, but dont you get handeling problems with the back sitting lower?? Espechally under acceleration,i thought it was a general ruel to have the rear slightly higher than front to reduce understeer? Drives

Espechally under acceleration,i thought it was a general ruel to have the rear slightly higher than front to reduce understeer? The rear is set lower than the back to counter act all the weight of the car being at the front, and the huge torque you get from the XE. I found when i was accelerating hard off the start line the rear of the car would squat down as you would expect. When you lift off for that split second to change gear all the weight transfered to the front kind of like an exagerated seesaw effect. Then when you slam the anchors on for a tight corner or chicane the back end comes up and really does go light. The mini rule book kind of goes out of the window with the hybrid stuff especially if your racing. Having said all this going onto Avons might change the setup again. With the Hoosiers i found the side walls wern't stiff enough and they were probably moving, exentuating the 'seesaw' effect. The Avons fronts i have, have a stiff side wall so maybe i will raise the rear. Until ive driven it in anger i just don't know. Paul "I'll get there in the end" |

Just had a read through your thread, top work. That rear suspension set up is awesome, wish i had the skills. And the new wheels really finish it off. |
