99.5bhp, yes.

Specs

998 a+ totally standard bottom end, 12g295 head rebuilt by benross, T2 from R5 GTT, 2" maniflow downpipe and exhaust. That's it!

Improvements?! I have an mg cam but I also have an mg 1275 block and some omega 1293 pistons in my garage... The 998 was really a practice before the 1293. I'd like 200bhp really!!

Thats not bad at all for a 998.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Looks spot on, exactly as I'd expect from the spec. I'd guess you're running 10psi?

Well the megajolt said 189kpa so I guessed 13psi, the Tim gauge says 0.8 bar which is 12psi so around those figures.

Do you know why the torque peaks and falls of quickly? I thought with the turbo it would stay fairly flat once it got up there?

Mainly engine friction and possibly pumping losses. Depends how much work was done on improving the flow in the head. You may just be reaching its flow limits.

Constant boost pressure doesn't necessarily mean constant density.

Was hell of an experience eh Alastair ?

We certainly had alot of fun driving home !

A real credit to you matey.

I'll post up my results for the van another day. But suffice to say that both our cars drive alot better after the fettling that Neil Slark gave them on Saturday. The guy is a genius.

Was a great day, I really enjoyed it. I'll be taking it back there when the new engine is built.

Good result.

Same spec/boost as mine except for the cam.

So you would have to assume that something like the MG Metro cam would hold the torque up.

Very tidy result there Al and I agree with the comments about Neil, he's a real gent.

I'll be back down with Neil next month to try and get a bit more out of the Maestro (hoping to max out the T34.63 this time)

Al I have a T25 in the lockup if you need a bit more power

Following the good reports on Slark I have tried to contact them by telephone for two days and cant get an answer.

I would like to get my car set up by them as they seem to say (and do) all the right things but how can I if they never answer their phone ?.

The office/phone is about 20ft from the rolling road so it can be noisy, try lunch time or after 5

And he has been extremely busy recently. I had to wait 5 weeks for a rolling road session! He did say it was mostly because of the race season starting.

Keep trying - it's worth it!

Dave.

He does answer emails.

The address is on his website. Just type in SRE into Google.

Well worth the wait Dave. He'll love your A35 ! and so will his 18 month old son !!

And if anyone is gonna go to Neil, make sure you mention TurboMinis and take a pint of milk for the cuppa's you'll be making when you go. Nice and friendly.
