Hi Im just about finished the build of my Canems injected 1380. I have a few questions abot the fuel lines.
Im planning on using a MPI tank, there is a spacer for the neck of the tank I understand, will this affect how it will fit to my 1991 cooper?
The MPI Fuel Rail has 2 pipes , one at each end, and another coming off what Im guessing is the fuel Regulator, how does this plumb in? I read haynes but its not clear.

1) There are clips for the injectors to hold them in, my rail hasnt got these, do I need these or are the injectors a push fit?

2) Does the fuel in line go in one end, and out the other? what do I do with the regulator?

3)For safety I ordered a Inertia Switch from minispares, how do I wire this in? Is in in series with the + to the fuel pump?

4) There are not take offs for the Vacuum line for the servo, will the brakes work sufficiently without the servo? its a 100bhp 1380 and Im not that big, so wouldnt be the best man to stamp on brakes.

5) AIr temp sensor. I understand this goes in the airstream going into the TBs , my problem is there is no place for it, would tapping out a hole in the engine bay beside the TB suffice? Considering Ive no cold air feed.

6) Fuel Return, whats the best way to run the Line back? I presume I need a solid line to run it under the car, and a Braided line that meets a IS standard for inside? If I was to route it under, can I piggy back it on the Fuel In line? or would P clips be the best route? I really dont want to go drilling holes.

7) Im using a bosch coolant sensor its M12 x 1.5 im making up a sleeve to fit the 5/8 UNF sensor hole on the head. Now what to do with the Lucas sensor for the dash, I was going to fit a T piece in the top hose, the issue is the 90 degree bend in it, is it possible to squeeze a T-piece here, also I want a accurate measurement, Im thinking this wont kick in until the coolant gets to 88 C and then it will be unreliable until the coolant becomes equally heated. Where as the standard position is after the thermostat and in the head so is more accurate.

8) can I mount the Edis straight to the bulkhead?

Thanks so much for reading all the above :)

In order:

The outlet from the fuel presure regulator is the return to the tank.

1. Best get some clips if you can, however, the rail should hold the injectors in place.

2. Fuel goes in one end of the rail, through the regulator at the other end and then back to tank. You should also connect up the vacuum reference signal on the regulator.

3. Not sure about minispares inertia switch, but usually wired in the positive feed to the pump.

4. Servo does not actually do much. Either remove servo and fit yellow tag master cylinder or get some pressure tappings into the inlet manifold runners.

5. Best place is downstream of the throttle in the runner, otherwise as close top the inlets as possible.

6. best use P clips and 10mm OD copper.

7. Alternatively leave standard sensor in head and drill a thermostat sandwich plate for new sensor. Water gets hot each side of the thermostat even when there is no flow.

8. Yes.

Is this a standard MPi injection manifold?

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Nope its a custom inlet with twin 34 mm Throttle bodies :), they are very short theres about 10cm from valve to the injector, the manifold is only 4 or 5cm long.
