Just putting the feelers out, I bought this about 2 months ago as a project. It was dry stored in a clean garage for 3 years before I got it. It wouldn't start when I went to collect it.

It now starts, runs and drives. It was the fuel pump, another has been fitted from my stock! The body work is really very good apart from the drivers door and a small area behind the door. I have another door that came with itbut the original is actually tidier so either a new skin or pushit out and a skim of filler. I was going to do the former. There really is minimal rust, most likely due to the fact it spent it's life in a garage between use.

The engine runs well, no smoke on start or whilst running. I can't remember milage but 57k seems to be in my head!

I have a large folder of history including receipts for new frontwings so would guess it's been rebuilt.

Now the bad bits, the last owner took it to Somerford for an appraisal;

Brakes needs a total overhaul
Most rubbers and bushes need replacing (I've got a the bushes)
One or two wheel bearingsare needed
Ball joints bothesides required (have those)

I may have missed somebits, but it's an easy project.

I'd like to swap it for an interesting project; doesn't have to Be a mini. If I can't find anything I'll get it mot'd and sell it.

What haveyou got?!

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Is that really harvest gold? It looks more brown to me. I am only interested as I want the paint code for a 1978 clubman in brown and it is missing from my vin plate and not on the mini-colours site.

That's harvest gold. Yours is Russet brown.

I would say its Antique Gold.

Interested, but nothing decent to swap I'm afraid.

As far as I know it's harvest gold, I'm guessing here but i think the value is probably something close to £1000. It is very original, I'd hate to see it modified and in that thought train I wouldn't sell to anyone who wanted to alter it. There are so few clubmans that are original let alone with the 1098 engine in.

I'd like a kit car of some description ideally. And my plan was to finish it to fund that.

Hmm my cousin is a stickler for originality. And has expressed and interest in restoring a Clubby. I'll mention this him tomorrow.

A Sylva Striker that hasn't been on the road since 1998?

It's tatty but solid, 1.4 crossflow, dual webbers.

Not MOT'd but AFAIK the nearside front indicator not working (not the bulb) is the only thing that would
stop it as it stands.

Dam it, I think you are right. I thought it was lighter than russet brown, but looking now it would seem right.

cheers

I If you wanna px something and give me 1k that's great!

As it is now I would guess it's around the £1000 mark. With an Mot, probably another £1000.

As above I will not sell it to anyone who wants it for anything other than keeping it original.

You're about 3 1/2 years too late. I don't think Al is around much these days.
