We are progressing with the Racing Flame.
The plan is to inject the current 998, then when funds permit, fit a 1380.
Options for port injection on an NA 5Port are numerous. In this instance we have decided to try individual throttle bodies although we could have gone with a plenum and single TB.
We have two options for TBs:
1. 35mm Jenveys without injectors. The injector pockets will be fitted in the manifold:
The injector pockets would be welded on the outside of the elbow.
2. 34mm Mikunis from a Kawasaki. These have injector pockets:
The Mikunis will be fitted on a simple 45 degree stub manifold and the TBs arranged so that the injectors point straight down the port.
The problem with both options is the interconnection. The Jenveys were bought configured to use a bell-crank type linkage as shown. The linkage that came with them was very poor, so we are working on an alternative. The one fitted is not quite long enough and is a bit too heavy, so development is on-going.
With the Mikunis, we need to extend the existing arrangement.
With both options, the total runner length will be extended to over 250mm by long inlet trumpets to prevent the torque dip at 4k seen by many with short TB runners.
