Hi all what db9 to usb serial cable have you found to work and where would you recommend to get one from thanks ms2 is beyond me come back carbs all is forgiven why did I decide to modify a spi mini |

You need a straight through cable as described in the megamanual

Get this, nice and long, well cheap and worked a treat for me. You need to google "usb serial driver prolific" and download one because the one that comes with the cable doesn't work

I have been considering the FTDI based adapter over the Profilfic based, since the Prolific appear to be a bit hit and miss.

On my old Dell laptop, I've used the Prolific 9 pin to USB convertor and had no problem with the original Prolific driver straight out of the box. Worked a treat but I did have to cut the metal shroud off the 9 pin end of the cable as there were earth problems which lead to issues to begin with. Once sorted it works fine on the old Dell.
Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
